hey all, would like to get some recommendations from everyone here:

1. budget - $1.5K excluding pc peripherals
2. doing some light - mid gaming and running 1-2 trading apps.

much appreciated in advance.

due to GPU pricing if think DIY hard to get at this pricing, could consider pre build by brands or if not be willing fork out 2k for a system that used to cost around 1.3k

Issue is GTX1660 itself will cost around $1k, no joke even though no shop
put the price.
That left around $800 - $1k of budget for other stuff is really not possible unlike last year.

Last year still possible since GTX1660 is around $500 so $1.8k can fit.
Have to go prebuild desktop or notebook like Lenovo Legion or get
second hand GPU.

However even second hand GPU most have take advantage of the situation to sell
old cards example GTX760 near $200.

Get a 5600G, can do light gaming. But must wait.

If you are comfortable with buying CPU from Taobao, a 4650G and Gigabyte A520I-AC ITX mobo, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM and an Inwin Chopin case (comes with PSU), get a 2nd hand wraith stealth fan for $10 from Carousell should cost you no more than $750 - $800. Want to future-proof a bit then get 1TB SSD, will last you way long.

wah, costing more than twice of regular pricing. would give the same advice as soltrdc, get a 4650g that comes with integrated graphics and use that to tahan until gpu prices fall, cpu performance should be on par if not better than the 3600. it is also a bit more expensive now compared to pre covid, but better than paying a more than 100% markup on an already few hundred dollar part.
