Both are really terrible options. I'm surer we can offer better alternatives for your price range, if you provide us with your budget.

I would recommend to go for a quad core CPU instead unless you have budget constraints.

2 cores+4GB ram on a video editing laptop is... Look for Lenovo website. There's a 15" E585 laptop running APU that is quite value for money.

I think it will be good to share budget for people to recommend. Both dual core options are not very suited for video editing, but not impossible. I feel the different between the Ryzen 3 and 5 are not too far apart. If possible, try and stretch the budget and get a better processor.

Thanks for your reply experts, budget 600 max can go to 800, tough leh

With 800, I feel the Lenovo ThinkPad E485 is a very good deal for you. I've recently took a plunge and bought it. Total damage for a Ryzen 5 2500U, with 8GB ram and 128GB SSD and 3 years onsite warranty for a cool 737.02 SGD. You can easily add another secondary hard drive there for another 60 bucks I believe. So it will still be within your budget.

If you go for Intel, it will likely be a very low end config, i.e. i3 or i5 (with cost cut on screen, no SSD, etc).

And by the way, the E485 was going for 50 bucks cheaper than what I paid for yesterday night. So that brings the cost down even lower. The code I saw was SGNIGHT, or SGNIGHTS for a 250 bucks discount.

I wouldn't recommend a Ryzen laptop unless it's going to be used by someone with tech know-how cos of the driver issues. I think most people would rather have a stable, slower laptop than an unstable faster one.

Driver issues can be resolved along the way as long as it is usable, while a slow hardware is permanent until you get a new one or will require hardware knowledge to upgrade.

Driver issues require tech know-how to solve, and I think most people would prefer websites taking a few extra seconds to load than having problems like bluescreen in Youtube or display drivers crashing while web browsing.

From my knowledge, this has long been solved by the manufacturer releasing "newer" drivers and bios. So far those using stock drivers I have not heard it since then.

Besides it's updated via manufacturer own software, like lenovo vantage, acer updater, etc.

Like i mentioned even stock driver is "problematic" one can just simply go to amd website and install v1000 drivers easily. No need force install at all, it will auto install the drivers and also update the chipset drivers as well.

One even do a simple google on AMD V1000 drivers and it will have many very detailed and simple info on it.

You've just proven my point about tech know-how. To us it's simple to grab our own drivers, to people without tech know-how that's very difficult.
If you want to see problems with stock Ryzen drivers, just look at HP
