Wonder how many Singaporeans own this?

Here is the official interactive tour for the American Express Centurion benefits. This is the non-public "black card" tour that highlights everything the card offers. It is a big file (4.7 mb) and tells you quite a bit of information about what exactly this card has to offer.

based on the circulation of the Centurion magazine to basic Centurion cardholders, there are about 1,400 cardholders as at 2009.

Was so excited to receive a black envelope from Amex!
But in the case, excitement turned to disappointment. :(

"Dear epigram,

Thank for your interest in the Centurion Membership.

As you are aware, this is an exclusive Membership status available only by invitation. The tenure & spend on your American Express Card are amongst the key considerations for being invited to the Centurion Membership.

While we regret that we are unable to offer this membership at this time, we hope that you will continue and increase your patronage of the American Express Card to enable us to invite you for the Centurion Membership in the future.

We thank you for selecting the American Express Card as your choice of payment and look forward to continuing to serve you."

The Centurion has arrived

By ARTHUR LEE

AMERICAN Express (Amex) has chosen Singapore as the first country in South-east Asia to experience its ultimate card - the Centurion.

For the select few: An Amex rep personally delivers the member's card in a leather-bound locked box Membership is only available by special invitation from Amex. In some markets, the card - which is crafted in the UK from 100 per cent titanium - is offered with no pre-set spending limits, although here the limits are likely to be governed by Monetary Authority of Singapore guidelines. Members have been known to have bought a Porsche and a Bentley just by using their Centurion card.

Invitations to selected Singaporeans started to be sent out last week. The card was first introduced in 1999 in the UK. Holders include such personalities as Tiger Woods, Robert Redford and David Beckham, and BT understands that the total number of Centurion card holders in Japan and Hong Kong number just a few thousand people. And in Singapore, Amex is looking to invite only a few hundred - representing the elite of society.

Card membership brings with it a promise of six-star worldwide concierge support. And for those who do get invited and accept it, it may perhaps be a symbol of having arrived.
