I have an old "normal" sized sim card, but my new phone uses nano sim. It is a Singtel postpaid plan. Should I

1. Cut with scissors and sand down myself?
2. Buy a cutter from qoo10, cut it down, and then sand it?
3. Go to a phone shop and get it cut and sand down?
4. Go to Singtel to get a new nano sim? (free or for a fee?)

Thanks.

It's a very old sim with 8 contact points. The new ones I've seen have 6. I'm not sure if it is compatible.

4. Get it replaced at telco. Highly there is charge for SingTel. They are not so generous usually.

Can go those ah Beng shop they will do it for you at $5 or so can’t remember . They have the template cutting for it

This method is better than going telco to have it replaced at $37.50

This is not good advice... most DIYers will fart it up...

.. best is to go to the telco to exchange it... :)

No way to f it up. You can even cut into the chip and still useable. Been using it like that since my iPhone 5S

Not advised to cut for those very old SIM card with bigger contact points. Newer sim cards has smaller contact points which can be cut.

Do go to Singtel shop to get it replaced. Not sure if they able to replace your sim for free if you "lost your sim card".

I tried it with my other telco and they replace my SIM Card for free. I reported my SIM Card as "lost".

My old SIM card (not micro SIM):

Not easy to cut correctly.

Anyone used those SIM card cutters on qoo10 before?

you only need to cut once. Not advised to get SIM cutter. If you want to cut, best to go to those mobile phone shops to cut. While they will charge a service fee.

If not like I said in previous post, go singtel and get it replaced.

1. Cut with scissors - don't need to sand. I cut long ago, can work.
3. Go to a phone shop and get it cut and sand down? - are you going to buy screen protector etc from phone shop? if yes, can see if they'll do it as a goodwill gesture. if no, they will charge a fee.
4. Go to Singtel to get a new nano sim? (free or for a fee?) - singtel may still give 1 pc free after you jump through some hoops. 2 years back, my mom got it for free after making some noise then using their machine - this is after buying phone from them too :(.

Use your phone torch to shine on the sim card.
See where is the real chip(black shadow) and avoid cutting it
Spoiling a bit of the copper contact doesn't matter

Just go change a new card. They will declare lost for you and waive the fee usually.

If it's singtel, note that if you use the self service kiosks at a number of locations eg Causeway point etc, they will waive the replacement fees for the first time. I had mine replaced foc last month.

I've done myself.you need to align and cut carefully not based on nano Simcard contact shape, rather not to damage the circled sealent on the existing SIM card (can check on otherside) and yet to have 6 contact points on the phone can match the cutted card.

If I get some shop to cut for me, I wonder what happens if they screw up...
