Hi everyone! I'm thinking of traveling on China Eastern for SIN-YVR.

Any comments about the airlines in terms of inflight entertainment? And more importantly baggage allowance? Because i will be bringing quite a bit of camera gear over, are they ok with heavy cabin baggages?

I've flown MU a few times (and even CZ), unfortunately not on this route. I believe international flights have 20KG check-in luggage allowance. Cabin luggage I'm not sure since I didn't have any.

Check their website for more details.

Thanks! How was the experience? Inflight entertainment ok? :)

Frankly speaking I can't really remember hahah. It was a redeye so I think I was asleep most of the time or zoning in and out of reality hehe...

I agree with the last poster, usually the piece concept applies.

Btw what's the price of your MU flight? And when is it? You can also consider CA (Air China), they have a promotion to a few places in US and YVR for $1.1k all in roundrip till June. Do check if your dates apply. This is one of the cheapest fares I've ever seen going to US ex-SIN. Saudia (Saudi Arabian Airlines) also sometimes offer around this price.

I have taken MU to Seoul/Jeju. No in-flight entertainment. I usually don't bother with in-flight entertainment as I have my own tablet or I sleep thru the flight!

Yes i'm aware of the piece concept, which i'm not worried. But i'm more concern of the cabin baggage as my camera bag and gear weighs about 20kg. I have no problem with Garuda and SQ thus far, but not too sure about MU (and CI).

I'm flying in early August, so can't use the CI's promo. Otherwise what would be the 2nd cheapest fare typically? I checked both MU and CI about S$15xx.

CI is China Airlines which is Taiwanese. CA is Air China which is having the eleven hundred promotion now.

Split your cabin bags. The reason for the weight limit is safety. Who do you want to be responsible when someone else's heavy bag (15kg) falls and hits/injures you? The owner of the bag or the airline?

Yeah it's different hehe. And careful not to mistake CA for AC or vice versa.

CI=China Airlines (Taiwan national carrier)
CA=Air China (China national carrier)
AC=Air Canada (Canada's national carrier)
BR=Eva Airlines (Taiwan)
MU=China Eastern (China)
CZ=China Southern (China)

Just an update, I booked with Air China last month for SIN-YVR return, S$996. Very good price! :)
