I look through the uol sim thread and my eyes go :s22:

Any SIM UOL computing I.T students here ? How is it ah ?
The teacher to class ratio ... the people in the course in general .. and stuff like that.

I applied to the course and am awaiting confirmation..

Already got kaplan diploma in I.T and A levels ( just nice to go into sim uol. 2pass lololol ).. so i was wondering if sim UOL i.t course was worth it or i should go to some MDIS or Kaplan I.T degree..

SIMGE UOL Computing should be a fine course.

What are the exact details of your A Level passes?
You could possibly apply for UniSIM Part-Time IT & Business Degree (Direct Honours),
- BSc Information Technology and Business (ERP)
UniSIM Part-Time Admission Criteria,
- How to Apply

hahaha , ikr jialat. I want go for full time one . so i never consider UniSIM. :s22: plus , they need work experience and 21 and abovet o apply. lol

sian 1/2. Though , personally , i feel PSB standard dropepd. MDIS seems quite decent, especially the way they described the course... and Kaplan .. is.. whenever need payment is fast.. whenever asking question/clarification freaking slow. I finish the diploma I.T from Kaplan on Jan then until now. the diploma cert never come :s22:

Right now i narrow down to MDIS or SIM.
I call MDIS .. they say i need take their higher dip before i can go for theri degree..
PSB say i can go in straight with my kaplan dip.

I narrow my choices to these 5:
  • MDIS - BCS (Hons) Comp Security
  • MDIS - BCs (Hons) Comp and network tech
  • Kaplan - BCs Cyber Forensics, info security and management
  • UOL - BCs Computer Sci (Digital sys security)

Cuz I'm working now so I only can study part time.
But really duno which to go.

Whichever course you both choose to apply, you may want to match the awarding university with global ranking charts,
- World University Rankings 2014-2015 - Times Higher Education
- QS World University Rankings® 2014/15 | Top Universities

Otherwise an IT programme from one of the 6 Singapore universities may be a better choice, as they provide wider career choices that extend into the public sector. You may also get wider internship opportunities with the universities' help.

That's pretty true.. If i were to want to work and stay only in singapore.. i would go UniSIM... I do , however, have intentions to go overseas and work.

I'm currently taking creative computing in SIM UOL, we only have 1 class with less than 40 students... Computing and Information Systems about the same, except they have few more students than us. We often combine lectures, and the lecture hall had never been full before.. haha

Did you go to SIM HQ to submit your documents after your online application? Btw, why are you still going SIM since you have such a high gpa? what a waste

Fresh grad from (double major) Bcs in Comp Sci, and Cyber Forensics, ISM (Kaplan - Murdoch Uni).
Speaking from experience, Kaplan has a few decent lecturers (FT) and if u follow the curriculum strictly, and do ur asgn and exams as per scheduled, it should be easy pass and finish the course in abt 1.5yrs.
Comp sci - 3 core mod/unit, mainly c++, c (process programming), java, basic html (other than c++ paper, all other exams focus more on theory), not that difficult.
Cyber forensics - 2 core mod/unit, both focus on forensic analysis of cyber crime scene (given an image file containing of possible criminal events), u've to identify evidence to support ur hypotheses and crack encrypted files). This is really fun lol.
There are other common core mod/unit, just do asgn and study for exams.
As far as I know, this is the only degree that actually has a final project, group of 4-6, usually web application, no restriction of language. Most ppl usually get Dist.

P.S. Local dip holder. Just gotten an offer from sub company under govt, pay is higher than my expected and frankly speaking interviewer wasn't concern whether I was from private or local uni, rather my degree was the focus.

Hey guys,
Anyone enrolling into Computing and Information Systems in UOL?
Any existing students? I would greatly appreciate if I can obtain the study guides for the modules in advance if possible
