Hello, good afternoon!

Am is 6 years D-link user, if you ask me the products about D-link and I can say is very good. If you take care and use it. But, I was using D-link modem and not using the above product that you talking about. As far as I know, their products is not bad. You can try it! :D

slow transfer rate nas? if you are ok with it, go ahead.

my bet will be to invest on a better NAS eg. Synology.

care to elaborate why would it be slow transfer rate (comparing to other Dlink NAS products or Synology/QNAP?) ?

If you comparing with the price, it is different as well.

Typical sentence, if you pay peanuts you get monkey.

However, for non-streaming user like me, it is a workhorse. Value for money for the functionality.

I'm basically using the functionality of the built-in D-ViewCam recording for my IP cam and data storage (not really for video streaming). Am asking is just want to know the performance between the DNS-327L and the previous models (probably the DNS-320? which I don't think have the built-in cam recording functions).

I'm also currently looking into the above set-up or similar. A IP Camera D-Link DCS-933L connected wirelessly to my router and router to D-Link DNS 327L. Any Advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hi iconfuse,

Here are some transfers examples on a DNS 327L with FW 1.01b09:

Running warmup...
Running a 1000MB file write on drive V: twice...
Iteration 1: 61.17 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 61.22 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (W): 61.19 MB/sec
------------------------------
Running a 1000MB file read on drive V: twice...
Iteration 1: 100.41 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 99.73 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (R): 100.07 MB/sec
------------------------------
Achievement unlocked: 100MB+/sec read speed!

Running warmup...
Running a 15MB file write on drive V: 5 times...
Iteration 1: 73.96 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 73.96 MB/sec
Iteration 3: 74.55 MB/sec
Iteration 4: 78.12 MB/sec
Iteration 5: 73.96 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (W): 74.91 MB/sec
------------------------------
Running a 15MB file read on drive V: 5 times...
Iteration 1: 120.19 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 106.84 MB/sec
Iteration 3: 120.19 MB/sec
Iteration 4: 120.19 MB/sec
Iteration 5: 120.19 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (R): 117.52 MB/sec
------------------------------
Achievement unlocked: 100MB+/sec read speed!

I've migrated, better say attached another NAS in my network, from a DNS 320 Rev. A FW 2.03 (have it since 2011 without any glitches) and I must say I'm very happy with the performance of the DNS 327L with its Marvell processor and 512MB of RAM, very fast NAS comparing to my old and still connected 320(Write at above 20MB/s and Read at about 10MB/s). No problems in installation, very easy to use, user friendly interface, I was already used to its interface.

The cloud interaction is very good for the 327L, audio streamer working flawlessly over DDNS, my two 932L IP cams working perfectly (via WiFi) on My Surveillance as well...327L proved to be a very nice piece of equipment for its price/cost, I was looking for a Synology DS213j, but the price here in Brazil is too high and the availability is only achieved in black market with no guarantee (Yes, we have a D-Link regional and official sellers here).

Still have some minor problems, as the beta FW have some bugs and needs several improvements:

-Web Interface bugged when acessing and trying to save cfg file, crashs every time when trying to save cfg file and cant save config file in both modes (normal and SSL port 443) , gets error 500-Internal Server Error randomly, needs to powerdown manually the NAS in order to restore Web acess. I've tryed via Chrome 34, Firefox 28 and IE 11 and the result is the same: 500 Internal Server Error and Crash.

-Google drive only appears in SSL mode and does not appears in Management/System services.*Solved this by adding Google Drive in my Favorities.

-Bug in My Photos/Photo Album, for example when acessing file 129/592, it shows me another picture, an earlier one in full screen visualization (ex. 31/592)...not showing the selected photo...Photo Gallery shows OK, its only when creating a Photo Album.

- Cooliris function not working in My Photos.

So, the 933L must work OK with the DNS 327L, the read and write speeds are awesome, the latest FW just added this ip cam on its support list:

irmware 1.01b09 - Date: 12/16/2013

No, DNS 327L is an exception, equipped with the same processor (Marvell ARM 88F6707, single-core ARMv7 processor - Marvell Armada 370 series a 1.2 GHz) and amount of RAM (512MB) as Synology DS213j, both are very good entry level NAS.

Synology is an excellent choice and set for another price range (a little higher than Dlink's) and user, and works with a different and more efficient/robust operational system (DSM), Dlink's is more easy to use/friendly interface, much more simple, it depends on the kind of user usage. Here I didn't saw the necessity to buy a Synology, I just needed to add a Surveillance NAS for my 02 Dlink IP Cams and a compatible NAS to work in paralel with my OLD DNS 320 (backup function actually).

In addition DNS327L have a USB 3.0 port, different from Synology DS213j (two USB 2.0).

I think consumer NAS is not dlink's forte.

I agree with you, but the dns 327L adds an exception here, different than its brothers (320, 320L etc) it does have a much more powerfull hardware, just stay tunned with new Dlink Firmwares (FW), there's always some improvement added and bugs fixed...

That's right, the DNS 320 (non L) does NOT have built-in cam support, I can affirm to you the DNS 320L with the latest FW (1.03) have support and the DNS 327L too.
DNS 327L is far more powerfull than its predecessors, just see my first post and check some internet reviews, write speed is about 60-70MB/s and read speed 95-120MB/s, depending on the enabled functions/services you have selected on the NAS.
Here some more tests for you in NASTester v1.4, a small (20MB), a medium (200MB) and a large file (2GB) transfer:

Running warmup...
Running a 200MB file write on drive W: 5 times...
Iteration 1: 57.70 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 65.72 MB/sec
Iteration 3: 59.34 MB/sec
Iteration 4: 66.00 MB/sec
Iteration 5: 63.19 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (W): 62.39 MB/sec
------------------------------
Running a 200MB file read on drive W: 5 times...
Iteration 1: 114.74 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 113.18 MB/sec
Iteration 3: 111.10 MB/sec
Iteration 4: 112.48 MB/sec
Iteration 5: 113.57 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (R): 113.01 MB/sec
------------------------------
Achievement unlocked: 100MB+/sec read speed!

Running warmup...
Running a 20MB file write on drive W: 5 times...
Iteration 1: 74.62 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 73.80 MB/sec
Iteration 3: 54.94 MB/sec
Iteration 4: 74.07 MB/sec
Iteration 5: 74.62 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (W): 70.41 MB/sec
------------------------------
Running a 20MB file read on drive W: 5 times...
Iteration 1: 106.95 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 107.52 MB/sec
Iteration 3: 114.28 MB/sec
Iteration 4: 114.28 MB/sec
Iteration 5: 114.28 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (R): 111.46 MB/sec
------------------------------
Achievement unlocked: 100MB+/sec read speed!

Running warmup...
Running a 2000MB file write on drive W: twice...
Iteration 1: 60.68 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 61.21 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (W): 60.95 MB/sec
------------------------------
Running a 2000MB file read on drive W: twice...
Iteration 1: 100.93 MB/sec
Iteration 2: 101.45 MB/sec
------------------------------
Average (R): 101.19 MB/sec

Before I was a D-Link NAS user, sold and upgraded to Synology.
Cannot stand the speed of read/write at 21mb/s.
With Synology low end model, can get 80/50mb/s.

care to elaborate why would it be slow transfer rate (comparing to other Dlink NAS products or Synology/QNAP?) ?

My 320L knocked out. looking to get the 327L.

Can I just plug in my hard disks from the 320L into this ?
Are they both using the same format ?
