Anyone been to bintan? What kinds of food and things to do there?
Bintan Resorts (AKA Singapore Overseas Territory) or 'real' Indonesian Bintan?
If former, it is manicured resort, there is not much to do except laying on a beach, do a couple of mangrove tour or hike in local jungles and that's pretty much it. Food is quite tasty for buffet and local small hawker center but expect prices at least double of Singapore - chicken rice for $8 for example. No point to bring/exchange to IDR because all prices are in SIN $.
As far as latter... well, you can have first hand experience what province of third world country looks like. In terms what to do - the same as above, but from the local perspective, which is much cheaper. However one should expect in this case most of conveniences of first world country to be taken away.
