crazy pricing $2199 and $4499 in 2026.

For existing Apple studio display owners, is it worth? Or going OLED/ third party is better.

given the specs of the SD2 XDR, i dont think the asking price is too crazy expensive.

- 5K resolution
- mini LED
- 2000 nits peak HDR
- 120hz adaptive refresh
- >2000 local dimming zones
- TB5 ports

the base SD2 on the other hand tho..

Ya but I am casual user nia, planning a secondary monitor.

my triple monitor setup plan:

1. left monitor Alienware AW2725 QD Oled 4k 240hz (for Linux)
2. Main monitor Asus XG32UCWMG 4k 240hz (for Mac and windows)
3. Right monitor candidates: Apple Studio Display/XDR, Asus PG27UCWM 27 inch 4k240hz tandem RGB stripe Oled, MSI 5k miniled 165hz glossy.

actually MSI is coming out with a new 5K miniled display, likely same LG panel with studio XDR for 899 usd, should be 1st half of 2026.

if you are referring to the MSI 271KRAW16, it should be the same BOE panel that LG will be using for its upcoming Ultragear evo 27GM950B model.

my guess is that Apple approached BOE to manufacture and supply this panel for the new Studio Display XDR and eventually, competitors will be approaching BOE to supply this panel for their own line of products as well.

Yes unfortunately LG’s model seems to be matte instead of glossy. Not sure why there are so little glossy options on the market?

I did consider but I am most likely going for the same monitor as a secondary one.

Currently using the LG 27UP850K. Wanted the Nano Texture from Apple Display.

Which one you going for? Basic or XDR?

I am also using it as side monitor only, considering Asus PG27UCWM RGB stripe OLED.

Can try Kuycon monitors if don't mind a knock off but comes with decent specifications and Apple like design and build quality. They come in glossy displays as well which is rare these days.
