Anyone knows how to umlock without passcode?

I have an Andriod phone that is locked with passcode and cannot turn on as the passcode was forgotten. Is there a way to reset to factory setting and pass the unlock ?

den u might need to flash the device. as its pretty hard to bypass the passcode.
