Traditional biz will chg to get frm pdd instead.
There are alot of ppl mindset cannot change, cannot wait 3 weeks for products..need immediately..dont dare buy from china etcetc.

While me song song buy from taobao, 1688, shein, pdd, temu all the gds at fraction of price. Still reselling them at good price

no wonder i start seeing people sell toilet paper in carousell...yuan lai shi ni....

but ya..some folks have boomer's mentality. pap is the best. suffer is ok, at least they give cdc voucher. so rather spend more to buy locally when the same thing is probably 20% of what they pay for from sg retail shop.

A lot of things I rather not buy from overseas... like shopee.. I tend to choose the local sellers... dun need to wait so long.. and worse.. came badly damaged... not the fault of the seller but usually the fault of the logistic company. Unless it is like some audio stuff... locally either dun have.. or charging way too big a premium over it.

Yes, same here. I also tend to choose local sellers. When I want something, I usually want it quite fast and don’t want to wait one or two weeks for overseas shipping and also there always a risk of the item getting damaged along the way. Unless the item is not available in SG, I would rather buy from a local seller.

Sure, if need it urgently of course get it locally. Heck , if I need it urgently I won’t even go shopee or Lazada, will just go to a physical shop and get it 1 hour later.

but that’s like 1 out of 100 times. Things like household supplies is always stocked up a bit, so I have all the time to wait for the items to arrive. I even see people buying tires directly from there lol

Yes. PDD is disgustingly cheap until don’t know what to say. Can be 10% or less of local retail prices

Actually I had also bought another pump-type of toothpaste (300g x 3 bottles) which should be arriving around the same time as the Darlie toothpaste.

I also tried this out of curiosity

Have been using it for 2.5 months. It has a slight herbal taste and noticed that it was able to remove some of the brown cigarette stains I have. Have tried some toothpaste promoted by 三只羊 previously, cost more and no effect. Also tried Colgate advanced whitening which I think destroyed my enamel and caused sensitive teeth.

The thing that I still haven’t got used to though, is that it has a consistency more like a shampoo, so it won’t sit on top of your toothbrush like a normal toothpaste.

Food wise need to be cautious if too cheap to be true

Yesterday I go and eat buffet, usually got ice cream one but the manager say the ice cream from China temporarily cannot come in so no stock. Think is the 蒙牛 brand.

That is exactly the problem. If local people stop supporting local retailers, wholesalers and distributors, who is going to bear the import costs, warehouse rental and other costs required to hold inventories in Singapore?

These businesses take the risk and incur costs to hold inventories locally so consumers can get the goods immediately when needed. If one day they can no longer survive because everyone buys directly from overseas platforms like PDD, are Singaporeans really prepared to rely heavily on overseas direct imports even for everyday household necessities?

Cheap is good, but there is a price to pay if the local retail and distribution supply chain disappears.

next time if online shopping really kill off all retail stores, they will also raise prices. Then become you pay the same, but you cannot inspect the goods, and need to wait

My place got newly open valueshop for detergent, soap and wet wipes, so for now i buy tissue and one off item from PDD.

Nv sell toilet paper..too big..troublesome to store and to deliver bulky incur unneccessary costs.

What is your idea of a good margin?

Either thgs which people buy 100-200 qty at one go and I earn $1-$4 per piece... or thgs which people would buy one piece and I at least earn $5.. all I need do is print the AWB and put item in bubble envelop. Not much time spent..also small items so I dun need a warehouse..

Anyway I do part time only not doing BIG.

If RTS is bad, PDD is 99x worse.

For many months, my family members and friends have been doing our household consumable buys in PDD. Good quality tissue, toilet paper, detergents at a tiny fraction of the cost. Can customise stuff there, can get toys, everything.

If Taobao is the supplier where our local retailers buy their stocks from, can think of PDD as being Taobao merchants’ suppliers.

Based on the posts I’ve seen on social media, Malaysia businesses all screaming for help already.

Quality sometimes is hit or miss, Taobao better experience for me.
