I have nv tried jiro before but have tried a few high end sushi restaurant in Sapporo which is much more affordable. To me the high end sushi is so much more refined than the usual sushi.. it's like the taste ,
the texture is on a entire different level

It's probably worth the money if Jiro is preparing the sushi himself since given his age...he might retire very soon...for a sushi master that's recognized as a national treasure....once he's retired...his sushi is also gone forever...

the Japanese rank this place much higher than jiro and a omakase with sake pairing is still lesser than what u pay at jiro.

This is the most value for money high end sushi in Tokyo apart from Saitou which is almost impossible to get a reservation

I guess you all referring to tabelog listing? http://www.luxeat.com/blog/50-tokyo-sushi-restaurants-tabelog-com-users-2/

Actually ... since practically every single of these top sushi place are at most 10+ seats only ... so practically every single one of them oso need reservation weeks/months in advance, right?

So if I'm going Tokyo only for ~3 days ... does it mean no chance? Or can I like make Tokyo hotel booking 2 months in advance then email the hotel ask them make the reservation for me?

for the popular places, it is very competitive to get a seat for dinner.

Most places, will open their reservation 2-3 months in advance. The top places will sold out their seat 2-3 months advance on the first day they accept booking.

I guess I'll email the hotel and see if they willing to help me make the booking a few weeks before I even turn up ba. Cos if land in hotel baru ask concierge to book, surely all good places full I suppose.

I guess I'm not gonna bother with Saito or Jiro or all those "1st of the month gotta book" places. Maybe any of the top 20 places will be happy liao :D
