Using the following for my router

If you using asus router can use their DDNS.

TP-LINK

Good enough to point back your router for VPN and web server hosting at hm.

Thk for the links, from this Asus FAQ:
If the wireless router is using a private WAN IP address (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, or 172.16.x.x), this router may be under a multi-layer NAT network. The DDNS service is not able to work under this environment.*

Anyway to work around this restriction, for those that are Singtel/Starhub consumer users? Looking for the means to point back to my router when i am not in my own network.

If you are on double NAT env. This will not work and you need to services like DynDNS Pro which allow you to install a client on your PC to sync IP address.

https://help.dyn.com/updater-windows/

Features
Updates your DynDNS hostnames to resolve to your remote IP address
Full-featured, easy to use interface
Windows Service integration
Works on Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, Windows Server, Windows 7 and Windows 8
Logs activity to file, displays visual indicators of the Updater status
Automatically determines which network interface to use
IP detection every 10 minutes

Most router inbuild DDNS will just grab the WAN Ip and sync back. But if you on private IP it will not work.
