any place can do free and easy. But i find turkey travel packages of good value. So check out the tours first.

I feel that the country is beautiful as well. A lot to offer, scenary, culture, shopping.

best is the pple there. V friendly. I received 2 gifts from pple there. For nothing. Gave them to me after i spent some time chatting with them. Both were selling things, but gave me a gift from the shop. I wasnt even shopping to buy things, just chatting with them.

The only reason why i think free n easy is good is because u can spend more time interacting with the pple there

Hi, I just come back from Istanbul, Turkey with my friends from a robocup competition which is held there. We've got a 10 days trips ( paid by school -- haha) and really enjoy there. Turkey is a modern Muslim country, they have many places to visit. You could come to the Museum, Church...they got quite a lot of ancient building to view. The price is around 10 euro per ticket. You can also take the sight seeing bus for around 20 euro. After visiting some famous places, you could take some tour for some beach in some islands ( around 60 - 120 euro) per trip. Or going to some high mountains there ( same price 60 - 120 euro).
For shopping, don't go to the market ( they charge u double price or even triple price when u speak English). You better buy something at the supermarket and shopping store on the street. We have walked around a few days, visit many stores before we bought some things at the final day where we could find a store with reasonable price ( To be honest, we just students --- haha).
If possible, you could spend some days at Istanbul then go to Sofia and Budapest, you really have a nice trip then. And the price is much cheaper than when you visit Paris ( I was there before --- school pay, offcourse)or London.

I think places are Israel, Bhutan, Nepal, maybe better to go with Tour. Turkey might be ok to go F&E.

anyhow, I thought u need to stop at Istanbul first, then travel to other cities --- of course u could go to some nice other place such as Ankara, not so sure if you guys could get the flight directly to there from Singapore. But I think a travel between at Istanbul, Budapest and Sofia will not take much time, you could sleep on the night train and then when wake up, u are in another city.

free and easy or tour is up to individual preference. Any place can do either.

I went nepal free n easy. u can use the travel agent there for logistics to trek. orr find ur own guide. much cheaper. Bhutan must be by tour. U hv no choice.

Anyway back to turkey, if u look at the prices that the student listed, its not that cheap. Of coS cheaper than other european cities, but still not cheap. Thats why i said a tour carries good value.

When i go europe i recommend a tour first, to see more at a lower cost, then extend for some flexibility and to immerse urself more or to see other sights that is not included in the tours

Turkey is cheap and worthit to go with travel agency. i don't think F&E is economical or easy due to the long distance coaching involved between cities.

one downside to agency: food sucks. it's all the same type of meals with little variety. and most agencies bring u to the same restaurants. i saw other tour groups from SG at the restaurant i was dining at.

Istanbul is the best of all the cities in Turkey. Well, just like Paris of France, the most beautiful state of the country. Remember to visit the grand bazaar in Istanbul. It only opens on weekends if I recalled correctly. The Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia Church opposite are great attractions full of history.
Also, if you're spending a night in Istanbul, do visit the night market (Ramazan Night Market?). It consists of a small chain of fashion and designer districts with local products being sold on makeshift tables along smaller alleys.

I last touched Turkey in Winter 2007. Visited Istanbul, Ankara and a few other cities. Went on a guided tour.

thinking of going free and easy (2A2C), wonder is it easy?

thanks.

If only Istanbul then shd b ok with F&E.

If plan to go other city like Ankara, Pamukkale or Cappadocia, then it is more troublesome and may not cost effective.

Istanbul is easy for F&E family travel. Lots of information around since its so touristy.
For other parts of Turkey, it depends on your budget vs style of travel. There are relatively cheap comfortable buses to other parts of Turkey but does your 2C (and your partner for the matter) handle this kind of travel etc

But seriously, Turkey is definitely more than Istanbul ;)

I just booked my flights to Turkey (11 days) for CNY next year. I am planning to visit Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale and Kusadasi. I think I might be doing F&E. Anyone engaged a local tour operator for the land tours? Feel free to share your experience with me.

Not many people discuss about turkey trip in hwz. Only saw this thread and another which are both dated quite long ago. Any advice on packaged tour to Turkey?

Turkey F&E. Istanbul is a must, but Cappadoccia, Pumakule, Ephesus all wonderful. Turkey is huge, take internal flight from Istanbul or overnight coach. Join the day or package tours once you get to location, eg Goreme, Kusadasi. Or as we did, combine with Greece on Scoot and take ferry to Turkey, island hop along the way. Fly back from Istanbul.
