Hi,i was told by Telco staff that if your iphone is lost, you can report to Apple and have them register your phone imei number as lost and they will block it, is it true?

After blocking still able to use this phone to call or surf net ?

nothing wrong with posting a question in a thread, i believe thats what forums are for. Don't have to be sarcastic.

No, Apple will not block it. You can put it in lost mode, wipe device, etc using Find My iPhone

data is encrypted, you need lockscreen pin to decrypt the data.

Even the FBI have trouble breaking in, you think any random Joe Shmoe can break into your iPhone?

Yea, as mentioned, it's not easy to break the security of an iPhone. Unless you have very confidential files, I'd suggest to wipe it right away for a peace of mind.. otherwise, the best hope is to offer a reward for the persons who returns through the Lost iPhone message

That function is actually called icloud activation lock.

If ur new iphone is registered with your icloud account.

When u lost ur phone.
Someone picked it.
Factory restore it/upgrade iOS

It will request them to login to icloud account right after the 'Hello', language, wifi/Data.....etc

More here.
https://www.icloud.com/activationlock/

Same if u sell 2nd hand or buy second hand.
Better make sure after turn on, can reach homepage. Else if activation lock is on, it is basically a paper weight.
