Hi,

I want to ask if anyone using the Apple TV 4K device and what apps do you have installed on it that Singapore users can use?

I know for Channel 8 and 5, I have to download MeWatch.

any apps available for China TV channels and HK drama ?

is Viu and YouTube available?

possible to download Bloomberg or CNN? Do these require subscription?

sorry I never use Apple TV device before, so I really don’t know anything

@NovelLobster

For TV China TV channels and HK Channel LIVE streaming, the short answer is there's none in Apple TV.

Your alternatives are

1) Some of them are on Youtube - like CCTV 2 Live and some old HK drama shows (but not live). Apart from that, there are also some HK and China drama shows on Netflix. CNN Live arent on youtube but you can catch some recorded ones. Bloomberg Business New Live is on youtube though.

2) If you really want all those Live TV channels in Apple TV app, the only option is to subscribe to those private IPTV streaming services. They will have all those China, SG, HK, US CNN, BBC etc.. live channel streaming.

But beware alot of them doesnt support TVOS as they require you to install a Android App.

So you need those that support M3U playlist type and you need to install TVOS app like Smarter player lite to load their playlist (url) in order to watch.

3) Get a seperate android TV box that support that.

Last but not least, dont try those iQiyi or Tencent , youku on App Store - they have no live TV streaming , neither are their movies DB as comprehensive.

Hope this helps.

PS : Dont bother with those CNN / Bloomberg apps. It wont stream live as the app will detect you are in Singapore and you will be prompted with the "The app is not supported in your country" or "The content is not available in your region" etc..

Thank you for your input!

i found out after setting up the device that there is ONE app called dajitv that allows access for all CCTV channels for 3.99 USD a month. Without subscription, will only be able to watch CCTV 13, which is the news channel.

I subscribed then will monitor see how is it. I need the system to be idiot proof to navigate coz it’s for my parents

Ah, yes I tried that. Its pretty good connection, however 4 USD per month is too ex for me haha

Actually, if you are adventurous enough, you can google search for "cctv m3u 直播 源"

And import the m3u/playlist into the Smarter Player app that I told you before. The only qualm about these free m3U is you never know how long it will last :)

sorry to hijack this thread.
I have the Apple TV 4K, which is connected to my home broadband via Ethernet cable to my Optical Network Terminal (ONT).

My iPhone is connected to my WiFi router, which is then connected to the ONT via ethernet cable.
With this arrangement, the iPhone and Apple TV are technically not "connected to the same WiFi network". As a result I cannot get Screen Mirroring to work the way that the Apple Support page describes.

Is there a workaround to this ?

you are saying Apple TV direct to ONT, while router is also direct to ONT?

are you on the same internet? or you have 2 different ISP?

Because the ONT while they have 2 ports, only 1 should be usable

Yes that is EXACTLY what I typed in my previous message.
- Apple TV connected to ONT via ethernet cable
- iPhone connected to WiFi router, which is also connected to ONT via ethernet cable

If only 1 port of the ONT is useable, I wouldn't have internet access on all the devices connected to my ONT, would I ? My desktop PC is also directly connected to the ONT via ethernet cable, but this is irrelevant to my question.
I only have 1 Internet Service Provider to my home.

Chill

don’t need to be so hostile and sarcastic when people just asking for clarification.

Just trying to make sure no error (because it seems strange) before commenting further.

one approach is to connect all devices to the router, then doesn’t matter on wifi or not will be on same network.

What is your ISP and plan? Yours is most likely not an ONT, but an ONR. ONR is mostly used by SingTel/WC, but some Starhub/M1/VQ users may use ONR as well.

You need to set your router in AP (bridge mode) to avoid Double NAT (double network router) issue. Once you do that all your devices will be within one network.

ONR: all LAN ports are working.

ONT: usually only one LAN port is working. Two ports may work if you are using legacy 2Gbps plans from Starhub/M1/MR (dual 1Gbps, dual networks).
