Just wondering if the process of applying for a Central Depository Account (CDP) account is a painless one. That is, can do it online? Or do you need a broker to do it? Or do you need to do it in person? Any chargers to do it?

Would suggest you just open with a brokerage, it's relatively easier that way since there are many things to fill up. The brokerage will have people guiding you.

Walk into any of the 3 agent banks and apply, if you are not ready to open a trading account yet. Otherwise, go to your selected broking firm and everything can be done there and then.
