Am heading there soon. Anyone knows where I can get some Argentinian Pesos in Sg? The airport doesn't have 'em and neither does Chinatown.
The ARS (I'm not kidding, that's the code) is under extremely tight exchange controls at the moment. You basically can't get it outside the country, but - pro tip! - you don't want to. Bring USD instead. Here's why.
The ARS is rapidly devaluing because of the Kirchner government's wacky economic policies, and Argentinians strongly prefer to use US dollars. If you're going to buy anything expensive, you should be able to get a pretty substantial discount by offering to pay dollars instead of pesos.
Keep an eye on @DolarBlue (not a typo - one L) on Twitter for that day's black-market exchange rate - and don't let anyone fob you off with the "official" exchange rate of about 5 pesos to the dollar. 9-10 pesos to the dollar is the going rate.
