Why? Is it not cheap? Iet's compare laptop to laptop, i see aftershock which most ppl goes to for value buy, their s15 with 1060 3gb is more expensive if you add in OS.

Hmm.
Do you have the complete spec of the Asus laptop that you are referring to?

Edit:

Had a quick glance.

Looks like the Aftershock S15 is rocking a GTX1060 with 6gb gddr5 instead. That's probably the main reason for the price difference.

Just had a hands on with it.

It is an interesting laptop
Not too sure what it is catagorised under - probably under media / gaming series below the strix and rog series thus it's pricing.

Build quality wise, it feels flimsy to me, and its palm rest imo is overly plasticky for my liking. It feels cheap. For this price, one would expect much more from Asus - an aluminium / sturdier plastic / a rubber coated palm rest maybe?

Styling wise, apart from the top lid, it has the styling cues of the ROG Strix GL502 - infact both are nearly identical physically - down to palm rest design except for the ROG and Strix colour scheme and labels.

They have identical keyboard layouts with very similar key travels and feel - making me believe it's just a different sku with the only difference being the swapping of the ROG hotkey for a more conventional num lock key.

Also, while the ROG Strix GL502 has bright orange keys for its "WASD" keys, the FX502 has a more mild red bordered keys - something that's reminiscent of older ROG laptops.

Internally, based on my conversation with the sales staff* - the main difference between them is the exclusion of M.2. SSD slots for the $1.8k FX502 - therefore one is unable to install any M.2. ssd for os / quick boot in conjunction with a bigger conventional hdd.

It is also rocking a 3GB gddr5 GTX1060 instead of the 6gb variant found on the $2.4k ROG Strix.

Hmm. So to compare Apples to Apples - the Strix GL502 should be compared to the Aftershock S15 instead!

* -the only way to verify the presence of
M.2. Slots is to open it up

Sorry was talking about S15 lite, same with 1060 3gb. More expensive with OS but AS comes with 120gb ssd. Well, i've searched youtube and found out there's only space for 1 2.5'' drive in the asus...too bad.

Give and take I suppose!
Nonetheless one can opt for an ssd swap!

If you are looking for a gaming / laptop it is a good bet. Just note on the slight plasticky build and hinge / screen flex.

As there is a transition from the 9xx series to 10xx series. Older models with the commonly found Gt940mx and Gtx960m series are selling for about 1.4 to 1.6k (based on a quick walk through a couple of outlets this evening).

The 1060 is a much better performer overall. So hmm take your pick!
