Seems like it will cause high CPU usage and increase temperature overall in CPU package.

Not recommended to use as MSI afterburner seems to be better choice for now.

@Yongkit i wonder why would this asus gpu tweak program cause high cpu usage and temperature raise.
Did you try disable the program to load at startup and save the preset to video bios ?
I don't think msi afterburner able to do that. My gpu is a gigabyte, using it's own gpu tweak program i'm
able to permanently save my preset to video bios.

Actually different brands graphic card have their own GPU tweaking tool.
ASUS GPU Tweak tool is for ASUS GPU, it enable the option to switch ASUS
GPU from stock to OC mode.

Think some may not know ASUS GPU you brought do not run in OC mode unless
you use the GPU Tweak to change the mode. Besides that it allow you to manually
OC the card but if it's a old GPU without warranty.

Best not to OC it else you will not know when it will die.

Afterburner tried and tested for many years. All these manufacturers version of GPU OC introduces so much background resources you'll end up having micro stutters in games due to higher than normal CPU usage.

Just use Afterburner. Absolutely no advantage in using all these crap.
Enabling OC mode in most of these cards are just merely bumping up core and/or memory frequency for these cards by using their software using their own pre-installed values. You can manually do it on afterburner while setting your own preferred fan curve as well.

unless ur using a strix card, which come with additional fan headers that can only be controlled by gpu tweak software. its the only reason why i still use gpu tweak.

Thats valid but some people think that to enable the OC profile, you need GPU Tweak. It's simply activating a pre-loaded boost profile for the card which you can do it yourself on Afterburner which is simple without all the bloat.

I used to use GPU tweak on my strix card. Then one day i woke up, see my strix card, it has 3 fans, they are there for a purpose. Then i looked at my strix box, there is local warranty. Why am i individual controlling the fans? I just use afterburner and control all 3 together.

I tried on the OC scanner to check its stability of apps and usage.

(everyone is welcome to test if your experience was different than mine)

Upon GPU Tweak III OC scanner profile activated:

After GPU Tweak III OC scanner profile activated, no matter how I switched back to Default/OC/Silent pre-set profile the CPU Usage will not drop to idle state, the only solutions is totally close the app and restart the GPU Tweak III. This happen no matter in Game or Windows environment.

MSI Afterburner:

At idle (Low memory usage):

Upon MSI OC scanner profile activated:

After MSI OC scanner profile activated, I can switched between different GPU pre-set profile the CPU Usage will not increase at similar to idle state, and I do not need to close the app or restart MSI afterburner app.

I am not aware a GPU tweak program can save the application preset to video bios, as in once you remove the GPU tweak program it should reset all your GPU status to its defaults profile as no OC or undervolt value intact to bios.

why cpu usage so high
iCue, Asus and Gigabyte software is all like that. I'm surprised GPU Tweak as a standalone program has that high CPU usage. Armoury Crate itself isn't half as bad as that. It runs services in the background but CPU usage is very low.

Usually, when CPU usage is high, you will feel micro-stutters in game. Having said that, I feel iCue has the worst background usage of any software out there.

This is a snapahot of my desktop with hwinfo. Fans are preset to run all time but at default fans would only run at 50oc and gpu/vram clock speed are set to base default, i'm using aorus engine for my gigabyte gtx 1660s and it is not running in background.

to snapshot of my desktop with hwinfo and without running of aorus engine in background showing preset fan is runnung even underload and below 50oc, default is with load and 50oc and above. My preset gpu/vram clock speed is also at base default. I'm using aorus engine for my gigabyte gtx1660s.
Hope the image is functioning. :)

The only reason I use the GPU software is to turn off the bling or RGB so it becomes totally dark. On my Palit and Zotac card.

OC I will still use afterburner.
