Locally do we have their higher end variant the BQ16 Pro?

Asus ZenWiFi BQ16 Pro can not be sold in Singapore since 6GHz-2 is not approved in Singapore to be used for WiFi. Same for Asus ROG GT-BE98 Pro which can not be sold in Singapore either.

Asus Zen WiFi BQ16 and ROG GT-BE98 are good for local market. They are also quad band, with dual 5GHz band (5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2 band) instead of the dual 6GHz band in the Pro model.

Actually the "Pro" in the Pro models is misleading. The Pro models have basically the same HW as the non-Pro models. It is just they have higher combined WiFi spec (due to dual 6GHz). The pro modles can not be sold to Europe and SIngapore (Singapore in general follows Europe).

And for wireless backhaul, it is hard to say dual 6GHz is better than dual 5GHz band.

IMDA need to open up more frequencies and approval, maybe 1-2 yrs time. 😅

Three different camp here.

USA --> 6GHz band all for WiFi.
Europe --> 6GHz-1 for WiFi. 6GHz-2 not yet decided (my guess is that this will go to 5G/6G mobile).
China --> 6GHz-1 not decided; 6GHz-2 for 5G/6G mobile.

I tend to think Singapore will follow Europe. And the likely outcome is 6GHz-2 will go for 5G/6G mobile. Traditional Telecom companies and organizations like GSMA are strong in Europe.
