Tried using Seven Bank ATM to withdraw JPY at 7-11 Osaka and was informed at ATM that a fee of JPY 110 applies for JPY 10k withdrawal n JPY220 for 20k withdrawal.

Was testing with Trust Bank Debit card. I did not proceed.

Hope others can share experience n info ...

Well that's pretty cheap. In USA it costs USD$3 to use ATM to withdraw from a bank that isn't from the same bank network.

There is no overseas ATM fee for revolut or youtrip only the sgd5 fee as I had mentioned.

All JP ATMs will charge a fee to withdraw money, doesn't matter which card you use. Even use JP banks' issued ATM card oso will incur a fee. You sure revolut or youtrip don't need?

Not sure how many times I need to confirm in this thread.

There are no ATM fees charged for withdrawing from 7 atm using revolut for the first sgd350 each month.

There is only sgd5 withdrawal fee charged in jpy using youtrip capped at 100k jpy per transaction.

He has already shared the screenshot that there are no additional charges by the 7bank. This is enough proof.

Ok,but if there are no processing fee, there will no such display right?

And 110/220yen is not a lot, and trust has no fees. Next is the exchange rates. Dunno how is it compared to revolut/youtrip.

i just tried with several cards at the same 7 Bank ATM

1) using Revolut, there was no warning message about ATM fee and I was able to withdraw without any ATM fee

the FX was pretty good, I got 105.10 today (1 Nov 22)

2) using YouTrip, there was also no warning message about ATM fee ... (but I did not withdraw any JPY)

3) the message about the JPY 110/220 ATM fee only appears using the Trust Bank Debit Card ... i may try at later date to withdraw if I run low on JPY

Yes, amount was deducted from my SGD wallet

roughly, the steps are

insert Card

key in 4 digit pin

choose language

choose "Credit Card" (instead of Savings, which will make the txn invalid)

input amount in JPY say JPY10,000

Just before final step, there are 2 options ... to "Receive in JPY" or "convert and pay SGD 99.xx" or something like that

choose the JPY option

it seems the FX rate is better when withdrawing JPY cash, vs converting n storing in Revolut JPY wallet ...

for payment I have been using YouTrip pat few days and the rate seems good

Cashier will ask you to insert the CC into the payment terminal, then ask u to sign the receipt ( .... they dont seem to know PayWave) ... but I do see some signs for ApplePay

somehow, MasterCard seemed to have better rate than Visa

.... I used Trust last week & the rate was like 1% off spot rate which surprised me

... I then used YouTrip and get very close to spot rate (Yahoo Finance), so I continue using YouTrip
