Bumping this thread up. It has been quiet.... Any opinions on AW from new users or those who’ve used it for months or years already?

Been invested in AW since Aug 17. So far returns about 10-11% and i invest it in monthly. Overall easy to use and acceptable returns despite the markets volatility. I just wish they also support SRS accounts topping up which they say they are considering but so far no updates yet.

For which one of the four portfolios?

May I also enquire what was your initial investment amount and what is your monthly investment amount?

Also can the investor set up standing intructions with a bank to transfer the monthly amount to AutoWealth account?

What is the asset allocation for the 80/20 portfolio? That is, for 80% equities and 20% government bonds.

I started with $5,000 to open the account. Initially went with 60% stocks 40% bonds but after a few months i changed to 80% stocks 20% bonds cos i am investing long term (20-40 years). If i can go 100% stocks i would but 80/20 is the riskiest they offer now haha. The minimum is $3,000 if i am not wrong. Yes you can do a standing instruction to automatically transfer monthly, it is a good habit for regular investing.

AutoWealth trades whole shares of ETFs for the client. Does this mean that the client's portfolio will have "unused" cash?

If yes, what is the percentage of "uninvested" cash compared to the equity and bond portions of the portfolio?

Does this also mean that the actual percentage of an ETF does not match the percentage in the "ideal" portfolio that the client has chosen?

AutoWealth has a minimum investment of $3000. They don’t keep lots of cash, most of the time just enough cash to cover fees and a bit more. The case is typically under 1%. I would say the cash quantity and lack of fractional shares are not worth a concern at all.

actually , why don't people just buy the ETFs themselves? These "robo" platforms charge a ~0.5% fee or more on AUM. There more you place, the more you pay.
Its also not as if these products can't be found in the open market, any retail investor can buy ETFs.

To me, the additional fee paid is to automate it. Ideally, I honestly don't really want to bother too much about investing. I just want to fire and forget. So I'd be willing to pay a small premium to have someone do it for me. Unfortunately, for the current state of Robos in SG, the premium is still quite high...

Autowealth and StashAway (at high AUM) comes quite close. But then they also have the 30% dividend tax issue we talk about...

How easy (or difficult) is it to switch from 60/40 portfolio to 80/20 portfolio using the AutoWealth platform?

Does the client incur any cost to make this switch? Or does AutoWealth bear all the cost (e.g. trading cost for buying underallocated ETFs and selling overallocated ETFs, fees imposed by the U.S. stock exchanges like NYSE and NASDAQ, any other cost that I have not listed)?

They state it quite clearly that their management fee covers all trading costs. Switching portfolio is just a simple toggle on the webpage, they will contact you for confirmation before switching. If you are really keen, just read through all their FAQs and then if it looks ok to you, just give their service a try. I think their FAQs is relatively comprehensive, sufficient info there to decide whether to use their service or not.

I think it's a fair question. If I switch my portfolio from one extreme to the other, there will be trading costs. Will AW cover these or will it come out of my portfolio.
I'm rather wary as many robos tend to skirt around these additional costs. Eg. They don't talk about the fund fees but these are actually additional to the management fee...

the easiest way to find out is to ask them directly and get a statement in black and white. whatever people answer here will just be guesses.

Last time u have to talk to the advisor they assigned you but now you can switch automatically on the AW portal.

No fees involve for the switch, it should be covered under the 0.5% management fee
