MY will laugh at SG Tuas South when Forest City islands are fully reclaimed & built.

No reason for them to reclaim land

They over confident

Long time never go Sembawang Park already. Maybe these days I shall have a look at there.

The last I remember, there was this small hill, totally botak. Not sure if they have flattened it or what

I don't mind buying for my holiday or retirement home. But the price must be really attractive considering all the risks.

Now it is definitely not worth the risk to me. Just me.
their historical currency depreciation against our currency is one push factor to consider.

their flip flop policies be it in their state or federal government coupled with their sharia law tendency is another mega push factor.

LKY was very skeptical as opposed to his son and urged us to wait & see.

While ShenZhen is the hinterland of HK, JB is the murderland of SG, it's similar but when examined closely, no. There are deep fault lines, just based on the minority treatment... SG provides benefits while Msia marginalise the smaller community.

Sg also a lot of empty condos

So must dump sg properties too?

If no condos were built and u expect foreigners to come in, where they gonna stay?

Freehold depends on who the government in your twilight years.

I've had freehold property in JB for around 20 years, despite all the political turmoil etc..so whatever happens certain things will have to remain unchanged. As for government I won't be surprised the Johor Sultan eventually take charge of Johor independenty (like a Brunei) if he becomes too fed up with the less than satisfactory performance of continuing being in the Federation ?!

Can consider staying in the nursing homes there when we turned too old and weak in our old age especially those of us who are childless with no support no monies can self admit into the nursing homes. At least half cheaper than sg old homes. If still physically abled, can continue rent out sg homes to self fund nursing home fees.

It was just shown on CNA that Sg and My has called for Joint Development Partner for the HSR.

I wonder if it is really completed, what is the implication for Sg and Iskandar properties.

I think u dream too much. Johor will not break from Malaysia and is not comparable from Brunei. I find the standard of living in JB is crazy. Durian price is almost equivalent as SG and food price etc are so expensive. No wonder so many crime case.

Shenzhen and Hong Kong VS SG and Malaysia cannot be compared also. Hongkong is the gateway to China and majority of the China top companies are listed there. Ppl move to Shenzhen to setup factories etc. Chinese workers during that time are extremely motivated. Who wants to setup factories in JB now? A lot of SG companies are going to either China, Vietnam and India

Another thing to consider is the maintenance of the property. JB condo all quite badly maintained. Just look at the shopping malls. Semi D/ Terraces are better but must fork out own $ to maintain. In Malaysia, freehold maybe a burden if you can't sell. Freehold in small countries like SG/HK is solid

JB itself is expensive but moving deep into Johor, not so

HK is like a tax haven

Iskandar is too expensive. Can get 1.5km within KLCC condo at less than million after rebates. Room for growth with hsr.
