They want you to "buy in" to their brand. Once you pay $2.99 every month, you're more likely to use Amazon for everything.

I see but I do not shop often on Amazon to justify paying $2.99 per month. Presumably I can join and cancel the membership anytime. Would joining and terminating Prime just to purchase the product at a lower price, after adding on the $2.99 to the cost, be a viable option? Any snag in doing that?
