STOMPer
NeveraginSIA was upset that valuables from his bag, like his company mobile phone, important documents and stamps were missing from his bag, after he was forced to check it in on an SIA business class flight from San Francisco to Singapore because of weight restrictions.
The STOMPer wrote in to the airline enquiring about the incident, only to receive a letter stating that he should not have checked-in any valuables.
The STOMPer recounted:
"I travelled on business class via Singapore Airlines on Feb 3 from San Francisco.
"Upon boarding, I arrived at the gate (after immigration just before boarding), the SIA girl said that my carry on was too heavy and that I needed to check it in.
"I duly informed her that the content was very valuable, that it was all my business document, company chop and stamps, business phone, products and so on.
"She said not to worry just put a lock on it and all will be fine. As my laptop bag had no space for more I had no choice but to check all of it in.
"I arrived in Singapore and my carry-on appears on the conveyer belt, the lock has been cut off, the suitcase is unzipped, the content spilling out and a bunch of stuff missing (phone, medication, and paper work)!
"I head to the lost and found and register a complaint and a week later this is what I get, a nice letter saying 'too bad, you shouldn't have put any valuable in there as they are expected to be stolen by airline staff'.
"I'm angry, very angry about this lack of professionalism.
"Frankly Singapore Airlines really didn't hold up it's 'best airline in the world' status here.
"They didn't even acknowledge that my luggage was mishandled.
"I'm flying with any other airline from now on."
