Backup Drive - Suggestion

Hello

I want to take backup of my Laptop. I have approx 700 GB of data in two Laptops. I want to take all data backup and format Laptop,

I am not sure what brand of External HDD I should buy
2.5" or 3.5" HDD?

I had Samsung Portable disk, often I experience Disk needs to be formated message.

Can you recommend a brand and HDD Size(2.5" or 3.5") I am not particular about portability.

Budget conscious.

3.5" external drive is the way to go for budget users. Capacity for capacity, 3.5" will always be cheaper than 2.5" ones.
