I've a WD640GB Cavier Green that went crazy recently with bad sectors after the cyclic redundancy error. It's out of warranty so my question is, what do you guys do with such HDD.

Throw?

Any preventive measures to prevent such crap from happening. My 6mths old 500 Cavier Blue is having bad sectors as well.

Two hdds of different age and model start to die at the same time?
Sounds like it could be your machine at fault, possibly power supply failing?
