For wired backhaul, which port should the ethernet cable be plugged into for the satellite device? 10GbE WAN or 10GbE LAN?

For setting up mesh, it is by connecting an ethernet cable to Controller and Agent via 10GbE LAN ports.

The manual stops at setting up.

Thank you in advance

I used LAN port and it works

Thanks!
For my limited england capability, seems like WAN can be used after MESH network is established.

Add a new satellite router to EasyMesh
...Then connect your main router’s LAN port to the satellite’s LAN port via an Ethernet cable.

Notes:
1. When adding a new router to EasyMesh, please use the satellite router’s LAN port as the backhaul port. After EasyMesh is built, all the ports on the satellite router (WAN, LAN, WAN/LAN) are available for Ethernet backhaul.

2. As long as the Ethernet backhaul is built successfully, the wireless backhaul will disconnect automatically. Similarly, if the Ethernet backhaul is disconnected for some reasons, devices will rebuild the mesh network via the wireless backhaul.

This is not a supported EasyMesh configuration by TP-Link or M1 or StarHub : mix consumer model and Aginet model.

I remember that 6GHz backhaul did not work. MLO backhaul will also not work.

Ethernet Backhaul should work but 6GHz band and MLO band on the HB710 may become useless.

But now I cannot test this combination.

Suggestions: sell the HB710 and get another Archer BE895.

Since the easymesh backhaul for BE805+HB710 is immature, I would suggest ignore easymesh setup and change the HB710 to AP mode with ethernet backhaul setup.
Then setup same WIFI SSID+channel for BE805 and HB710 to get most out of it.
The missing features might be just the auto-sync on the WIFI configurations, and 802.11k/v Fast Roaming.
You could try to setup and compare the easymesh to AC+AP setup to see which is more preferred solution.

I switch from HB710 - HB710 to BE805-Hb710.

Findings
BE805 router wifi 7 is better than HB710. I am getting close to 3gbps within 1 m for be805 (main) compared to 1.8gbps (hb710 main). Even around 5 m away the speed of be805 is around 1.5gbps versus hb710 main 800mbps.

Do note for setting up, i setup be805 as main router first, then connect to hb710 via lan-lan to setup the mesh. Make sure all the router is updated to latest firmware first.

Be805 use Teher so after the mesh is setup, you control via tether.

After satellite hb710 mesh is setup, I login to the satellite via the ip address and change all their WiFi to be similar ssid and password as the main one..cos I realise after mesh is done, hb710 2.4ghz and 6ghz will have wifi said different from be805.

I using wireless backhual.. speed from hb710 (satelite) for the furthest point is around 500mbps (for wifi 7 connection). Take note wireless backhaul will have speed penalty. This speed is similar to my previous hb710-hb710 mesh at the furthest point connection to satellite router.

Once the EasyMesh was setup, we no longer able to change the WIFI setting to the satelite unit. So I would like to know how you able to login to HB710 to change the WIFI setting after the EasyMesh setup.

Yes you can, just log in the Web UI of the slave HB710 using its IP address.

The problem is that 6GHz band of the HB710 is no longer part of the EasyMesh.

I have done the test myself in early Feb 2025. My conclusion is that it is not worth using EasyMesh in this case, just use HB710 in AP mode, using the same SSID and password as the main Archer BE805, and hope roaming will still work, if you can use Ethernet connection between the two.

Even better way is to avoid such a combination in the first place.

I did try to login to the HB710 IP and couldn't find the option to change WIFI SSIDs.
When switched to AP, the options are available.

I noticed my iPhone 15 PM does not connect automatically to 6GHz network automatically.
I tried forgetting the network and re-entered the password and still to no avail.
The Auto-Join is enabled too.
Anybody has experienced this and managed to solve this?

iPhone 15 Pro / Pro Max are known to have problems with 6GHz connections as per multiple reports over the internet. They only support WiFi 6E.

Example discussions related to TP-Link HB810/Deco BE85 and iPhone 15 Pro.
https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/652786

iPhone 16 and 17 generation support WiFi 7 and have more stable connection to 6GHz band. They still do not support 320 MHz channel bandwidth yet on the 6GHz band. 4096QAM is also not supported.

All in all, iPhones are lagging behind flagship Android phones in terms of WiFi, no matter using Broadcom chipset or Apple's own chipset.

I was literally beside the router when i went to the settings -> wifi
