If this is true, I will be largely unaffected. Minimalism is a way of living simply and by keeping costs low, there isn't a need to build huge portfolios like some of the forumers here. Just a bit of dabbling here and there keeps me alive. A huge recession would wake up many into this beautiful path of minimalism.

It depends on the narrative. If fed hikes and say that it is the last hike, market would rally big. That said, if companies start talking about their results and give a dour outlook from tariffs etc, then the fear of this being the best quarter for earnings may be realized and that may well be a catalyst for more downside. We have some inklings about this type of talk already from Cat, iRobot, 3M. Now depends on whether the tech heavy weights can save the day.

Many of us are living minimally despite having $$ & investments.

Many can live / eat / play better but many resist.

Earn more but be thrifty.
Nothing wrong to have some travel / occasional better food than 饭菜 / new phone every few years.

Currently VIX is at 20.

Yeah if you expect market to slide further, then can consider long.

Historically, market bottomed when VIX were at 30-40 levels.

My take still a max 20% correction in the S&P index.
