Before our recruits are allowed to undergo their live firing, they must first train using the Individual Marksmanship Trainer (IMT). This is for them

It's a good idea actually. Get familar with handling the weapon before actually firing live rounds. I've gone for 4 live firing during reservists, despite all being laojiao, every session also got misfire one. Got 1 time, this guy checking clear, fired 1 round across the range from one side to the side and hit some metal cover just 5m away from the firing line.

The dangerous one is night live firing. But very hard to replicate the conditions in a simulator like this

I got my chance to play this before the end of my cycle. Its amazing how far training has evolved. In fact there is a bigger and more realistic simulated range at pasir laba. Got air con, and even a damn canteen, with real ammo.

Actually, range is not fun lah. Those in combat vocations will have company/battalion live firing. Get to fire all the organic weapons. Most satki is 84mm RR.

that aircon range? seen a lot of photos on fb b4 liao
yesh, beri nice place. Cause for reservist, is shiok. Just IMT finish then straight do range in aircon. Wah, for middle gen soldier like me, is really world of difference to those sweaty, humid sand filled firing range.
