Is aftershock the only pc builder doing this?

What about invader, mansa and the other pc builders? Got this kind of stunt to bother to have their exclusive bios or software?

No only Aftershock does this, when they setup the PC the BIOS and Windows are
not standardized business image.
Invader, Mansa, Dreamcore etc. the BIOS and Windows are unlock so they
do not use a standardized business image deployed to customer PC.

I will always recommend people to buy other than Aftershock.
Especially down the road if you want to upgrade parts like CPU will be easier.
Since you can update the motherboard BIOS to support new CPU or RAM kits
like high density RAM kits.

Aftershock is no, if you bring back to them.
They won't flash the motherboard for you just replace another.
That is their SOP been dealing with their PC for the past 5 years so
I know their business ethics.

I have tried to argue with them before but to no avail.
I see how if got any other channel than I will raise this concern
about lock BIOS.

Their BIOS is not say public release.
Is like in any company, the BIOS will be lock from anyone tampering it.
As well as Aftershock customize setting like Aftershock logo etc.
I haven't been able to explore what the setting they have for their BIOS other than the logo.
Aftershock BIOS have been like that for past 10 years.
Early years example B450 era there's no way to flashback since flashback feature are only certain motherboards.
If you want the best performance as well as less problems like PC not booting or no display.
Best to flash yourself if you know how.
I been dealing with Aftershock their PC are never easy to repair.
You can ask me what are the common issues with their PC.
Im using an Aftershock PC from 2020. ASrock X470 mobo.

There is no Aftershock logo in the BIOS when i boot up. I dont recall having updated the BIOS firmware but never saw the need to. It was able to accomodate a Nvidia 3080 GPU which i bought seperately in 2022 and installed onto the rig.

Certain motherboard Aftershock does not apply their own BIOS.
Mainly Gigabyte BIOS are lock with their own BIOS.
Asrock wise to my knowledge is don't have but now I am not so sure.

Cuz they mainly use Gigabyte mobo most of the time.
Which X470 depending on model, it will be recommened to upgrade
the BIOS to support RTX 3000/4000 especially Resizable Bar feature.

Certain model you have to do few steps BIOS upgrade.

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X470 Taichi/index.asp#BIOS

It is recommeneded to update the BIOS for AMD if you want better performance
and stability mainly due to AEGSA update time to time.
But don't update the BETA BIOS.

Example X470 Taichi you need to first update to BIOS 2.00 than stable BIOS 10.10.

Thanks for ur reply.

Since my new aftershock rig is using gigabyte motherboard, aftershock confirmed the BIOS is indeed their own version.

For any upgrade, they say bring back to their svc centre to do. But if warranty is onsite pickup and return, they will come collect ur pc and return after updating bios.

That's so silly. Have to be without PC for few days. If no warranty, need to bring heavy PC down and bring it back up just for an upgrade

But they have sold thousands of PC, if everyone want upgrade or got new upgrade, means everyone must bring down. Their labor and time wasted on such stuff that dont earn them money

If really want to upgrade BIOS, then need to bring back and pay for it if it's out of warranty. It's not that difficult to flash the BIOS chip if you have the right tool. It wouldn't take long to flash the BIOS. Otherwise, just bring it to Nigel@SLS(can Whatsapp 90487338 for quote).

I doubt many common folks will update their BIOS. Most will just leave it alone unless it becomes incompatible with newer hardware or drivers. Some don't even know what a BIOS is.
