BKK Itinerary Help

Hi fellow forumers,

My partner and I are travelling to BKK from 17/7 to 21/7 (5D4N), we'll be staying near pratunam area.

We are totally clueless and appreciate if anyone familiar with BKK can share some of the latest must-visit. Thanks

Cluster 1 => Platinum mall, Pantip plaza (IT Mall, not cheap) centralworld , Big c, gaysorn plaza, amarin plaza , pratunam market, malls below baiyoke hotels

Cluster 2 => MBK, Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery Center

Cluster 3 => Terminal 21

Cluster 4 => CTC

Cluster 5 => Central Plaza, Fortune Tower, Tesco, Robinsons, Big C

Cluster 6 => Chinatown, Sampang Lane

Airport to Pratunam area hotel:
By Cab: 400 B
By train: Rajapraprop station alight
Walk to your hotel
Pratunam area nearest bts is chitlom at holiday inn bangkok
If you staying at baiyoke hotel area, walking to there can take 20min
Cab would jam like mad at pratunam area.
Chinatown to pratunam area, can jam 20min to one hour


Can use rabbit card to travel bts, or use to buy Macdonalds ...
Think gt 10% discount ...

Most cab wont go by meter, normally would ask for 200B.
If you can wait, try getting other cab.
Pratunam to CTC: Max 105B
Pratunam to Chinatown: Max 75B
Pratunam to Siam Paragon: Max 70B

May I check with you when cabbing to Chinatown, do we just say Chinatown to the cab driver and they'll know where to drop us?

What are the things specifically to do at Chinatown?

Chinatown you can eat sharks fin. But I think not cheap haha. only eaten once at restaurant, bo hua, one person 13sgd small bowl ...
Else you can go lin zheng xiang to buy their local products. Like pork floss snacks etc ...
Yaowarat is chinatown . At night nicer.

Tell the driver to go to the White Orchid Hotel, Yaowarat, which is Chinatown central.
Yaowarat is about markets, bazaars and food for the lay tourist.

White orchid closed down already.
May went bangkok, driver said the hotel closed down.
We walked there, also closed down already.
Can tell the taxi driver to shanghai mansion.
Think is the start of the chinatown street

T21 can pass really. A bit like Jurong Pt, NP and CWP all mish-mash together.

Usually I stay near national stadium station, so if I take a cab to chinatown.
It is only around 10 minutes, can considered taking train to national stadium before transferring to a cab. Can go by meter
But there was some tuktuks at national stadium who was insisting I pay fixed price,much more expensive than a cab.

Lots of people visit chinatown at night for seafood. Not a fan of seafood at chinatown so I prefer to go chinatown in the morning to shop.

From chitlom station cab to chinatown if by meter is 75B max.
But some taxi driver would ask for 200 or more

The thing is tuks tuks are asking for the same or more than taxis at times.. is it because they can squeeze their way through jams?

If you are worried about jams, taking a cab from national stadium will be a better idea..

If going to chinatown, just say yaowarat or chinatown.
If in the morning, they will bring you to the shopping area.
If at night, they will just bring you to restaurant area.

I guess is tourists wanna have experience taking tuk tuk.
And also, like you mentioned, they can cut lanes.
But I personally do not like tuk tuk, because very dusty and pollution .
