Black dot in images

Recently I noticed that there is a black dot in the images that I take using my Nikon D5100. It is clearly visible when the background is white. Can someone advice what is the problem and how it can be solved. i have googled and it says its some sensor problem. can we rectify it on our own or i need to take it to service centre. its still under warranty

dust on sensor, not sensor problem.
If you have a blower, try blowing it.

full battery, turn on camera, set to sensor cleaning

remove lens, point camera downwards and blower upwards and blow a few times. then test shooting on white paper at f22 (don't need to focus). if no more spots, then sensor is cleaned.

if spot persists, then may have to do wet cleaning.
google sensor cleaning in youtube for how to clean.

if after wet cleaning still have spots, then it's oil stains / leak on sensor. this case --> send back to Nikon

I tried the first option. but the dot is still there. Haven't tried the wet cleaning though
