Is it good to park money in bond instead of fd now as the rate is not very attractive?

1. Why are you parking money? Are you parking the correct amount of money for your situation, or are you parking too much? It’s generally unwise to hold long-term assets exclusively in, for example, fixed deposits.

2. Bond interest rates are also lower.

3. Insurance companies are offering decent, fuss free cash parking choices. You can park up to S$10,000 with Singlife in a fully liquid account (even comes with a Visa debit card) and earn 2.5% interest, but Singlife could change its interest rate in the future at any time.

You can park some cash with Etiqa’s ELASTIQ plan and earn 1.8% interest insurer guaranteed for 3 years, minimum $5,000 and maximum $200,000 (the latter via a top up), provided you can accept a 90 day lock on your funds.

Both are SDIC protected up to SDIC limits for insurance. Please note that ELASTIQ has a weird policy term requiring a death claim within 3 months of the date of death, so make sure your survivors know about the deposit.
