Bose has come out with 4 versions of Quietcomforts and I have owned 3. The only one I did not buy is the fugly ultra.
The first and second version, both failed. I use them sparingly, bought them mostly for ANC for flights and occasional use e.g. once a month.
The first version spoiled just after one year, but I managed to get it exchanged for a new set which I immediately sold away.
The second lasted a year longer and spoiled for no reason. Just two weeks prior, I was able to use on a seven hour flight, so it had nothing to do with the battery. I checked with Bose and was told that I could trade that in. When I called in to enquirer about the trade in, I was told that the trade in was a 10% discount off the full retail price.
The third version is the current Quietcomfort, where the ANC is not as good. I think the current version is the best made of the 4, but it is ultimately a Quietcomfort lite version.
So for TS, if you are thinking about buying Bose, you may want to consider that you are purchasing something that will not last much beyond the warranty duration, and that you may have to rely on a lottery of sorts to land one that does not require you to keep going back to the service centre.
