Bought new ram, installed and failed. Help!

This is my current desktop, a 2016 aftershock.

SKYLAKE Desktop Motherboard : ASUS H170M PLUS (No SLi Support)
SKYLAKE DESKTOP CPU : Intel Core i7-6700K 4.00GHz Processor (8M Cache,
up to 4.20 GHz)
Random Access Memory (RAM) (Desktop) : 16GB DDR 4 2133Mhz (8GB x 2)

So I bought this "Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3000MHz C15" and stuck them into the 2 other slots available.
The computer couldn't start and I did some googling on my phone. Removed the new ram and went into bios and changed the ram speed from "auto" to "2133mhz" and tried to slot them in again. Same problem, doesn't work. Do I need to change the voltage or something? I am a total noob at this, please go easy on me, thanks.

can you try with just the new RAM (i.e. take out the old RAM) in the two black slots?

FYI your mobo can't run ram >2400mhz. But not to worry as your 3000mhz ram will just automatically default to 2400mhz (or 2133mhz in your case when running quad channel ram, it will follow the lowest speed ram). You shouldn't have to manually adjust to 2133mhz yourself, but manually doing it yourself doesn't screw anything up.

Follow what Koenig168 said, right now you need to test for 3 things.

1. Whether new RAM is defective (test only the new RAMs in old ram's working ram slots, do not put in the old ram)

2. Whether the other 2 unused RAM slots is defective, if your new RAMs are working

3. If your new RAMs are working, and your other 2 unused RAM slots are working. Then it might be an issue with your mobo running quad channel ram which happens sometimes.

You need something like threadripper to do quad channel... his mobo certainly cant do it

So I tried taking out the old ram and putting the new ram in the old slots, it worked. So as I was going to restart it, I thought heck, might as well try. So I stuck in the old ram sticks into the unused slots. Abracadabra! Worked! Computer hardware can be so strange.
