Want to build a gaming pc budget is $600-$650 Don't need OS and monitor.
Use it to play CS GO and some other games.

g3258 would be faster than the athlon, but some games like far cry 4 won't run on dual cores, and some games may not render everything wih a dual core. also, microsoft released a new microcode to stop any oc on non-z series motherboards, so you'll need a workaround before you oc.

I am bringing across that a Core i3-4160 will beats Athlon X4 860K hands down for about the same combo cost.

Being dual core physically doesn't mean it won't work as most are software limitation imposed by game developers rather. They tend to support Core i3 but not Pentium and Celeron by the CPU branding. As far as Far Cry 4 is concerned, Pentium G3258 works:

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266114-running-farcry-4-on-a-dual-core-cpu-guide-my-fps-numbers/

And do you mean Intel to release microcode to stop all that? They've said that more than a year ago, but apparently nothing happened since latest BIOSes across various motherboards still didn't revoke the function. :s22:
