would help if u mention ur budget and the prices of the parts u listed.

personally i think this is ok. i would swap out the mobo for an msi b550m pro vdh wifi/bazooka if u can find one for the same price, and since u are going b550 + zen 3 u should be able to take advantage of faster gen 4 nvmes like the sn770, which to my knowledge is cheaper than the 970 evo plus locally.

thanks. added prices in the original post. no budget actually, just trying to get most value for money. initially thought of getting a i5-13600K build but seems excessive for my case.

the msi boards seem to have inferior audio codec?

ok will consider the sn770.

you may want to get a mobo with wifi chip, shouldn't cost that much more.

got wifi 6 and bluetooth 5.2 which can be useful further on.

The Asus Prime B550M-A at $118 looks like good value for an upgrade from B350 board. Is there any virtue in doing so granted that the current board is running fine now

There's no reason to upgrade just the mobo alone, unless you plan to upgrade the CPU to a more current one with pcie 4.0 as well for ssd and gpu to benefit.
