Budget PC :CPU+GPU combinations vs APU

Hi all, appreciate some help to make a decision. I am looking to buy new new DIY PC.

I prefer APU replacement as I can still do some light gaming.

If I consider the 8600G+mobo combo, the starting price is around $500.

But I want to compare this with a CPU + GPU combo. I don't have much knowledge on budget GPUs.

Can please advise what budget CPU + GPU combo to go with, and how much more do I need to spend over the 8600G?

I am not considering mini PC. I prefer the DIY build.

Do you plan on upgrading the GPU in the future ? If yes, go for CPU+GPU. The igpu of 8600G is not particularly strong, you can refer to the below link for estimated performance compared to other discrete gpus on the market. Of course, it depends on the type of games you play and resolution of your monitor.

Entry level Ryzen 5600 + gpu around $700-800.. look at m03, m09, m05.. if u want am5 cpu then Ryzen 7600 + gpu is $900+ onwards..

But seems quite serviceable actually, even for FPS games.

The GPU should be able to handle whatever I throw at it, but at low settings at least. I rarely play games, but don't want whatever game I choose to be unplayable.

My main monitor is 2k resolution - 75Hz with Adaptive sync.

the main diff is the cost of the GPU. Even for RTX 4060, the cost will be $400++ more.

Around $500 get AMD Ryzen 5 5600G will be enough if you looking for a cheap build.
Depending what game you want to play the IGP will be able to handle a lot of game
on low and low resolution.
Get a second hand RTX 2060 around $100 later on if you want more FPS.

AMD's equivalent for RTX4060 would be the RX7600

8600G have no pins. It's on LGA AM5 socket.
