Budget upgrade challenge for BF4

I'm getting a headache trying to upgrade my rig with a limited budget. I don't really want to spend more than $500, hence it's so difficult for me

Current setup:
Biostar TA785GE + AMD X3 425
4GB DDR2
4770 512MB
Enermax Eco Liberty 500W
Hitachi 1TB

Currently using with 1024x768 resolution so I can still do some medium gaming. BF3/BF4 is struggling with low settings.

I hope to upgrade so that I can play BF3/BF4 with reasonable FPS on at least medium, perhaps even high (ultra is just a dream now) on 1680x1050/1920x1080 resolution.

Now I'm suffering from low memory as I have to constantly clean up my mem or it will slow down and freeze/crash games.

Can I still upgrade from this platform (difficult finding old parts) or do an overhaul (might exceed my budget)? If you have an idea please help, thanks.

Dont waste your money because the upgrade is not going to help in any way at all in terms of fps... Old parts are expensive and waste of money in the long run. Gaming at that low res is a cpu bottleneck.

Save the $500, up the budget a bit and do overhaul. You don't want a problematic system that needs to clear memory after spending your hard earned money... Wait for the official optimized version of the full bf4 game before making a decision when you see benchmarks. Some ppl suffer from low fps using current gen tech in the beta, because of the low optimization...

Let's try the cheapest combination that can play this game:

i3 3220 + Asrock H71M-DGS - 213
8GB Kingston KVR 1333 - 94 (no dual channel, buy another stick to upgrade later)
Leadtek 650Ti 1GB - 185

Total: 492

Reuse the rest

If you increase your budget by $150. You can get a Core i5 and better graphics. I don't think many can assure that they can get good frame rates with a processor with lesser than 4 cores.

Get a PS4 instead? I know that isn't what you want initially but that budget won't get you very far on pc.
