going to sls soon to get all these items from tradepac...

Sapphire R9 280X 3GB OC ~ 428 ( Powercolour @ 438, MSI @ 467, ASUS at 518)
Intel Core i5 4670K & ASUS Z87 Plus ~ 552
G.Skill DDR3-1600MHz 8GB ~ 110
2TB Seagate 7200 RPM ~107
Samsung SATA 24X DVD Rewriter SATA OEM ~ 21
Superflower HX 600 ~ 108
Havent decide casing

Total dmg = About 1380

Bros, please advise if

1) Sapphire is okay
2) Motherboard can be cheaper version
3) Powersupply can use cheaper version
4) 280x should be traded for 280 without sacrificing too much game video quality
5) Any things I can do to make it cheaper

1. Sapphire is okay.
2. Motherboard can be cheaper. I like the ASRock Extreme6.
If you don't mind giving up Intel NIC for realtek, you can go for the cheaper ASUS boards.
3. Powersupply is solid, would go for a bigger one seeing as you're overclocking, though.
4. I wouldn't downgrade the GPU.
5. Since I don't see a custom CPU cooler amongst your parts list, are you not overclocking? If you're not overclocking, drop the K CPU and Z87 board and go for a B85 board. Add an SSD and keep your Superflower 600W.
You'd get better performance and spend less.

To reduce the cost dont go for overclocking. Next is the choice of 2tb or 1tb hdd. Do you really need 2tb? Add in a SSD to boost your overall pc OS responsiveness and game loadings. Not only it gives fast boot up and shutdown.

If you do not need to overclock you can choose go for

9 series boards are around the corner. Not sure if it's cheaper. But i guess the older 8 series will be priced lower.

I think it will take time for Z87 mobo to drop prices locally. The demand and supply for z97 must be high enough such that z87 is so-called neglected and distros are forced to drop price.

But if demand is high and supply low, they may keep z87 pricing as ppl may still get z87...

Very slow for them to reduce price. Look at ivy boards.

They came to a point of dropping a few $10 at most before haswell launch.

And when haswell launched, it didnt even drop 1 bit. Till now it is still the same price OR no longer bring in.

Should I buy the 9 series boards instead of z89 or MSI B85M G43? Since the 9 series boards can accommodate broadwell coming out in q4 this year. Not sure if the B85M can accommodate.

Also if I dont want to overclock the processor, if im not wrong I can still OC the GPU (r9 280x) right?

OC your gpu is not dependant on mobo. OC your CPU then is dependant on mobo. Z97 + cpu would be priced high as compared to Z87 + cpu. But i doubt prices will drop so fast for Z87.

Imo, read up on what 9 series MBs offer over the 8 series then make your decisions from that. No point getting a 9 series MB and a haswell refresh or broadwell if you dont need those features imho.
