But how would you know the quality of the parquet? And how much is needed?Bought marble tiles from Ipoh and parquet from TB. From the price, definitely worth it.
Trouble is finding a skilled worker to install the marble tiles.
Easy to go to local tile dealers but pricing isn’t fantastic unless just nice buy during their sale.Just go hafary
Look at the reputation of the stores as well as reviews from users. If you need assurances, you can actually ask the store to ship you a sample. But how would you know the quality of the parquet? And how much is needed?
I guess you can pay contractors for labour to install?
How much parquet can be worked out if you have your floor plan. Just measure the area and convert to square feet. Order a bit of extra to cater for off cuts and damaged pieces. If you need skirting also need to measure the length you need. Another thing needed is the parquet glue to glue the wood to the floor. But how would you know the quality of the parquet? Where did you find your installers? How much did you save by doing all these yourself? How much parquet can be worked out if you have your floor plan. Just measure the area and convert to square feet. Parquet installers can be found locally. There’s some workers from Malaysia who are allowed to work here and can install for you. When I did my house about 3 years ago, the installers quoted about $3.50 per square foot for installation and finishing. If you get a local company to do just install, the psf price will be much higher.
I bought my parquet from a wholesaler locally for about $3psf. They recommended me a few installers which I contacted and negotiated the installation pricing directly with them.Where did you find your installers? How much did you save by doing all these yourself?
Do you mind sharing the wholesaler with me?I bought my parquet from a wholesaler locally for about $3psf. They recommended me a few installers which I contacted and negotiated the installation pricing directly with them.
for parquet I saved a few K compared to getting a company to do everything. How much u will save will depend on how big an area you need to do.
I got from hau hau parquet. But gooogle says temporary closed so I’m not sure they are still in operation or notDo you mind sharing the wholesaler with me?
actually one must be thick skin enough to just ask for discount if buying on your own. usually ID who bring clients to showrooms will get a commission so if one goes to buy by himself, can also get a bit of discount as well if ask. Many logistical issues, if you can walk around the local sellers, you can save money if you take the tiles/marble that is running out or only left with small quantities and the sellers often give some discounts.
Can share what co u used from China to China to bring to sgI had bought marble mosaics from taobao.
you need to calculate the quantity you need first from your Reno plans. Then communicate with the seller properly on the logistics. Due to the weight of the tiles, the internal shipping is different from those express services which is common with buying small stuff. If you’re using third party shipping, you need to inform them about this so that the tiles can be shipped to the third party warehouse which will cost extra. Else their norm is just to send to a location near your warehouse and your warehouse will have to collect.
after that is your collection in SG. One box of tiles of about 20 pieces can weight more than 20kg. If you have a car and trolley to collect then good. Else you will need to pay for delivery to your place as well.
unless you are buying unique tiles in small quantities then TB is ok. Else the hassle for coordinating delivery for bigger quantities will make buying tiles locally easier.
if you have huge quantities requirement for marble, then maybe fly over to china to buy and ship back in a 20 footer container will be cheaper. For this you will need to have trustworthy contacts in china to ensure you don’t get conned.
why u don’t let co pick up for u but 400kg isn’t little… how u manageLook at the reputation of the stores as well as reviews from users. If you need assurances, you can actually ask the store to ship you a sample.
yes you need to find the right contractors to install and pay for labour.
just to add. recently i ordered 400kg of engineering wood from TB. Ship through forwarder and collect from warehouse. Logistics will be troublesome, but it can be done.
Mine small quantity. Only one box of about 30kg which I shipped in via ezbuy. If you are planning for big quantity, I think better buy locally. Cos big stone tiles of 300x600 or 600x600 will come in crates which will be challenging in terms of logistics. Can share what co u used from China to China to bring to sg
