Camera for fast moving toddler?

Sorry to dig out this thread. I have been using my I4s to take photos over my baby. Recently he has grown up a lot and becomes faster.

I have a LX3 lying around at home. Is it better if I use that? Or shall I buy a new S110?

If you want fast response time from the time you release your shutter to the time the camera react, get a DSLR, or M4/3. I don't think Canon S110 is fast enough. I own the S95 and I don't feel the reaction time is fast enough. But there again, it's not always necessary to capture a child running right ?

Note: It's not about how fast the shutter speed is, I'm referring to how fast the lens and body snap the subject upon you notice that composure via your viewfinder.

tried the S110 at vivo before, i think it's "ok", but not good if you want to snap multiple photos fast.

Thanks all. My baby is currently 7-month-old, can't walk or crawl yet, but rolling a lot and very active. He is very camera sensitive and kind of "kuai lan". Whenever he sees us pointing camera or our smartphone towards him, he looks away from us! It is getting very hard to take photos of him looking at the camera.

I have had a D70 many many years back (now passed on to sister-in-law to play play) and know how good it is to take photo of babies. It just that I feel really lehceh and bulky, especially during travel. So now looking at compact more.

But who knows, maybe I will go back into DSLR again in the future.

from specs and reviews.. both are excellent camera..

and articulating LCD is very useful for capturing difficult angle..

go try out those mirrorless cameras? smaller in size (but still with the lens protruding). Could well be what you want.

your LX-3 is a very capable cam.

continuous AF + continuous burst.. take photos at a distance and crop..

Articulating LCDs may help to get those natural shots... especially those that allow you to shoot at hip level.
The kid may not be aware that you are taking photos.

Also, good for when he/she starts to crawl, can compose your shot with the camera on the ground while you continue to have eye contact with your kid. Fire off continuous shots, at least one should turn out good...

if size doesnt matter..u need dslr and then get a fast lens....which have big aperture....if size is your concern..can try sony rx-100
