It's my first time buying a mechanical keyboard. I did a bit of research, but it's not enough for me to make a decison.
Since I want super-responsive key presses, I decided to go with red switches. I've narrowed it down to five keyboards, but I still can't choose among them.
CM Quickfire Rapid
CM Quickfire Rapid-i
CM Quickfire Rapid Ultimate
Filco Majestouch 2
Corsair K70 RGB
The problem with the Filco is that it's not backlit, admittedly I've never had a backlit keyboard but I like the aesthetics and utility of backlighting. And I don't know why people on the internet often describe Filco as the 'premium' mechanical keyboard when it's priced almost the same as the Quickfire-i/Ultimate and cheaper than the K70 RGB. If someone can tell me why, I'd be grateful.
I've heard bad things about the firmware for both Coolermaster and Corsair, as well as LEDs burning out on the K70 RGB and the Quickfire-i. The Quickfire-i also has reactive backlighting, which gimmicky as it sounds, seems pretty nifty to me.
The Quickfire is super cheap but it's not backlit and is tenkeyless.
And about tenkeyless. Many people I see like tenkeyless keyboards. They say the small size lets them have their mousepad closer to the keyboard, or that it's more portable or that it lets their shoulders sit closer together. I like having a numpad, but their arguments seem logical so I don't know either whether this is a good or bad tradeoff. Again, I've never used a tenkeyless keyboard so I don't know how bad that would affect me, not having a numpad.
If anyone thinks there are better cherry red keyboards out there, feel free to name them as well since I've probably glossed over a ton of other keyboards while doing my very basic research.
