My wife and I are planning a trip to Cape Town in Feb 2018, and so looking forward after reading some threads about it!

We are allocating about 6 full days for the trip, and wondering where is a good and safe area to stay? We are a huge fan of Airbnb oceanview stays hence any recommendations are welcome! We will be renting a car so we don't mind staying a bit further away from the main area in Cape Town.. As long as it's within 15mins drive into town for good restaurants and attractions.

It seems like the good game reserves (eg Kruger) are far away hence we won't want to visit this time.

We are likely to visit/do :

- Cape of Good Hope / Cape Point
- Shark cage (recommends for reputable companies welcome!)
- Horse riding (recommends for reputable companies welcome!)
- 1 full day Vineyard
- Table Mountain
- Robben Island
- Langa and Khayelitsha Townships and colorful Bo-Kaap
- Drive the Garden Route and other scenic drives (recommendations welcome!)
- 1 or 2 full days in Cape Town central

Any other attractions are welcome!

-----

For those who have rented from Budget car rental (Merc C class or BMW 3-series in particular), which other alternate cars do they give? I really would love to get the C class / 3-series but would be disappointed if they some above average-Korean/Jap cars..

Some restaurants in Cape Town we would love to try :

- Market on the Wharf
- Pot Luck Club
- The Test Kitchen for tasting menu
- Nobu
- The Hussar Grill Mouille Point (saw the menu - steaks at incredibly affordable price)

Is there any that we die-die-must-try places? Also for their local cuisine too.

-----

Wife would like to do some shopping.. What is good to shop?

Thanks!!!

Search 'south africa' in this forum and you will see at least three threads. I opened one of them before my travel there this Feb and it has enough information about Cape Town and other places as well, including rending whole house via AirBnB. Read it and if you have questions - ask.

But let me state here that your plan requires not 6 days but 3x of that. I do not know how much reading you've done and if you even have looked the map.

Garden route requires minimum 4-5 days driving one way with stops - if you want to see anything. Vineyards around Cape Town - one full day trip and you need to leave before 8AM to come back before sunset - I would NOT RECOMMEND driving after sunset. Just trust me on this. Other plans require adjustment as well - if you want to hike table mountain - that 9h hike. Visiting Robben Island - the same.

So take reading of threads and wikivoyage/wikitravel and cut/adjust your expectations.
