If I rent a car and kena scratches or dents what are the typical charges?
If I use a sucker to suck the dent out, can they detect?
What type of insurance do they sell? I heard got one is add 60 dollars.
If let say the amount is small like 1000, it wont be worth getting lawyer to sue me right?

Based on rental contract. By right, downtime for repair, administrative charge & repair cost. If 3rd party is involved, insurance excess.

Depends on the damage. Usually a dent comes with scratches and paint chip-off. How are you gonna deal with that?

What type of insurance do they sell? I heard got one is add 60 dollars.

Depends on rental company. Not all offers Collision Damage Waiver.

Why not? If you have signed a rental contract and damaged the vehicle, they have all rights to claim damages that are due.

Simply put, you can't run away from your responsibilities.

You rent something and damage it. Then you are liable to return it in the same condition.

If you cannot do it before you return then you let them settle and let them charge you for it.

They are running a business. One day in Workshop means one day lose of use and they will bill you for it accordingly.

What is the difference between Collision Damage Waiver and Excess?

If let say the excess is 2000, then does it mean it is "worthwhile" to damage car up to 2000?

Let say a car kena visible scratch, how much is the bill? This is assuming the car still can be drove.

Read and understand all the clause before you sign on the papers. Most of the content 'adv to rental company'

Take public transport and or get a coe ride. Personally, find it simpler that way in the event of an accident.

"A Collision Damage Waiver, often referred to as 'CDW insurance,' is not insurance as such. It's an agreement from your car hire company to waive the costs of any damage incurred to the car in the event of a collision. The driver remains responsible for the excess, but the rest of the cost is waived."

CDW reduces your liabilities, probably pay lesser excess. Definition, price & availability of this option varies. Some may not even offer this for inexperienced drivers.

Repair costs also varies according to extent of damages. Typically an area for paint touch up costs $150 onwards at the workshop if you approach them directly.

Pls note this is a very very rough estimate for 1 minor scratch, as all workshops would advise you... come down and let them have a look first.

Let me elaborate.
Ok let say the damage is 1000.
The excess is 2000.

Scenario 1: I dont buy the CDW. How much do I pay?
I assume it is 1000.

Scenario 1: I buy the CDW. How much do I pay?
=> I dont know the answer for this.

That is why I asking difference between CDW and excess.

No need to claim insurance if damage amount is lesser than excess. Link

Depends on the CDW definition, it should state how much it is able to bring down. E.g. Link

Above is assumption for OD accident.

Scenario 1: $1k (Cap at $2k)
Scenario 2: $0. (SG rental company seldom offer this. You will see more Oversea)

But you have to read the terms as some CDW does not waive all damages instead it reduce your excess.

Learn about this "CDW" only when I rented car in oversea like OZ and Iceland .. Is like u paid the cheapest rate at $80 per day for the rental car but excess amount was 4k., $90 per day where excess reduce to $500 and $100 per day where u need not require to pay any excess damage.

But then u know car rental companies always have many clauses such as if your car meet an accidents driven by a unnamed driver, driving off roads illegally, being intoxicated or doing river crossing etc..

Opted in for CDW when I went to NZ, haven't drove there before thus unsure of the road conditions there. The last thing you want is for a happy holiday that turns into hefty bill nightmare ;)

Does that mean if you pay 100 per day then you can anyhow drive the car?

Yes. Sort of and you are able to convince them it is really due to accident.
However, some actions will void the contract which you will be liable for all damages.

But who will want to have accident oversea and spoil your holiday.

Rental car right side both doors ganna but minimal dent cos slowed speed just paint gone

2. How much will it be to repair the car doors at the rental company?

Side swipe mostly 50-50. Total cost /2 split by each party. Unless van declares their fault and pays you 100% of your repairs and takes care of his own. Both doors respray prob about $600 excluding downtime. Depends on how bad too... the hinges might be damaged and door cannot open/close properly.... driven a rental car the door have to slam, cos the hinge was off.

Not my car tho'.
