thanks... unfortunately I don't have that card. only have POSB Everyday
not interested to get a new card just to spend in USD... and it's not that big an amount (<$10k). think it's sooner or later have to convert to SGD heh
It’s only about 2 clicks or taps to get a DBS or POSB debit card. And I’m a bit surprised you don’t have a PAssion Card issued that way since it’s the free way to get one. The PAssion POSB Debit Card is good for discounts and promotions, including discounts on Community Club classes and other events. DBS/POSB doesn’t charge any issuance or annual fee for debit cards.
Yes, if you have U.S. dollars sitting in an account linked to that card and then charge something in U.S. dollars to that card — order something from Amazon.com (U.S.) or maybe Best Buy in the U.S. (then ship to Singapore via EZShip for example) — you’ll spend from those U.S. dollars first. No extra charge. No rebates either, but by Singapore standards that’s pretty good.
DBS also offers “USA Remit” service to transfer U.S. dollars free of charge to practically any financial institution that can receive them via “ACH” (domestic U.S. fund transfer system, analogous to GIRO). That includes U.S. brokers such as Interactive Brokers and Firstrade Securities. Whereupon you can use those U.S. dollars for investments.
