Chances of OCS and Chances of Commando

What are my chances of getting into OCS? I have read that you require A level/Poly Dip minimum to even have a chance of getting into OCS.

I am currently pursuing a private diploma, and will further up to the higher diploma. I only have O levels. (turning 18 in Jan next year)

My PES status is PES A.
During my medical screening (which was before my diploma course) I wanted to get it over with and so didn't pay much mind to my vocation choices psychometric test etc. Will I be able to change my choices? i.e go for a 2nd medical screening I'm guessing.

I have read that commandos give priority to JC/Poly students? On top of that the psychometric/IQ test plays a role in getting the commando vocational letter. I frequent the gym and I am confident in getting gold for my NAPFA test.

You can ask whether you can change your choice and/or go for 2nd medical screening. Whether that’s granted is another matter.

Chance of OCS, well, if you sign on MAYBE got more chance than don’t sign on. But whether you get to sign on? Another matter also.

True! Sorry to say that a pte dip is almost worthless for all gov jobs..

1) Yes, I believe the SAF only recognises local dips.

2) I also did my screening before my diploma and I was called up for another one a year before my enlistment, I wasn't told to do the MAPAS test (IQ test as you would call it) or to state my vocational interest during my second medical screening. Though you can call the CMPB hotline to ask about a second round of testing.

3) I would guess the selection of Vocational assessment is mainly based on the IQ test as well as your family background. I was selected for the NDU VA but didn't get into the unit in the end. Physical fitness isn't all that they're looking for I suppose.

4) To get into OCS I believe you need a recognised local education certificate. On top of that I guess you'll need to have a decent GPA as well but don't quote me for that though, just based on my observations. I've never seen an officer that isn't a) A scholar b) Company/Platoon best or c) has a GPA less than 3. Though SCS is easier to get in, I have friends who dropout of Poly and their highest education qualification is O levels getting into SCS.

What is so great to be in OCS? During my time in active NS, there were medical doctors who reject/refused to go OCS (MOCC) and would rather serve as NCOs.

UPDATE: Just got sent a reply saying that pre-enlistees are unable to indicate interest to be deployed as commandos or naval divers.

Hi I went for the commando va last year as an ite student then later that year I dropout and went to take on private diploma and also I deferred in between. Do I still have a chance of going commando?

If u really wanna join commando why not just sign on? Thats the only way u will be able to choose ur vocation
