What is the cheapest fare you have seen for SQ? The current is S$258 return in economy. Wondering if it's a good price to book!

Not true leh. Experience on Cathay better for me than SQ. I usually fly with SQ for KF miles accrual, but I flew with Cathay in Feb to HK instead of SQ coz SQ last minute fares too ex. End up I very much prefer Cathay's flights. At the very least, the food is much better on Cathay. Managed to sit on A350 back also, very nice plane and IFE.

Took cx in January the food wasn't good. Didn't take sq quite a while so can't compare.

For SQ to HK, if you want better timing, and fly on A380
normally the fare is about $ 280+ to $ 320+
Sin to HK - 0825 depart
HK to Sin - 1425 depart

Those promotional fare, normally timing is
Sin to HK - 1505 depart
HK to Sin - 0905 or late evening depart

SQ is worse for sure (for me). I took SQ in 2014, 2015, and 2016 once to HK, once to Japan. Then CX this year to HK. The food on CX is definitely better. :s13:

Maybe I'm weird but I very much prefer A350 to A380.

I think SQ food is better than Cathay food.

But maybe because I've always taken midnight Cathay flights, whereas SQ never had midnight flights.

Cathay midnight flights and early morning flights food is bread/biscuit. And they taste bad. Once I took evening flight back on Cathay and I had decent dinner, but still not comparable to SQ.

If you really want better tasting food, go for SQ.

Pricing wise, for full fledged commercial flights, in my experience, Cathay is the cheapest. Depending on the promotions, there could be decent return flights back (but most of the time no :(). SQ is a bit more expensive, but food wise is better, flight timings are more humane (well, if you are the usual 8 to 6 kind).

Took 1.50am CX659 Hk back to SG on March 15 early morn
TIP: Prepare thick windbreaker while waiting at their HK airport Gate 18 as their holding area is a huge open hall .So it is not Heated! and was freezing cold inspite of wearing jacket at 1 am.

Took 1.15 am CX 714 Sg to HK
Tip : stupid CX can actually delay flight 2 hrs till 3.15am(PROB MECHANICAL fault) i was so unlucky
At this 3:15 am it is difficult to sleep in the cabin seat even with blanket .THE WORSE time to be tired and yet unable to dooze off.So Be Warned

Am I (and my friend who went on those trips with me) the only ones who feel SQ food is worse than CX? :s13:

SQ red eye flights are just snacks too, after you go onboard. Just saying. :)

I used to think SQ food is the best too, when I hardly take them. In recent years almost all my flights are with them, and I'm definitely feeling otherwise. :s13:

I have to agree, many times I find the SQ food lousy. I rather skip the meal than having it.

my sq flight to HK last year ...
Breakfast no sasuage inside ... They forgotten to put inside =.=

Their staff seems less professional in my opinion...
Their senior staff in red, Chicken with rice, she said fish with rice ...
Until she distributed until the 3rd row, people start to make noise ...
No check before issuing the meals ...

This is the inflight caterer (i.e. SATS inflight catering) issue liao. The crew can't open up the pre-packaged meals to check one.

SQ service is also going down. I requested for a glass of red wine three times before getting it. Often, I don't get to choose the choice, claiming only chicken or fish left.
